As a newcomer to P3D (roughly 6 months), I've really been enjoying the sim.  Consequently, I keep purchasing add-ons when there are interesting sales (e.g., PMDG sale, Aerosoft this week). With all the speculation about the imminent abandonment/curtailment of P3D products by developers is anyone expecting very deep software discounts, 50% or more, in the near future? 

If you like military, SimSkunkWorks jets for P3Dv5 are now all free at Simmarket and highly recommended.

I'm not much into the military side, which seems hilariously at odds with the core market for P3D.  Nevertheless, I'm more of a tube liner fan.

 

Although, free is still free.

I don't think major developers will do that, at least in FSX, FSLabs, PMDG, Majestic, etc never discounted their FSX products despite FSX essentially being "abandoned". It will probably be the same for P3D. They do discount it for seasonal or promotion reasons, but i don't think they will discount it because P3D is being "abandoned".

Agreed.  Last year's Black Friday sales were pretty strong -- although looking back at 2019 that was even better.  

I was thinking more globally about sales or permanent repricing as they stop updating products.  However, arwasairl may have the right of it.

I am not stooping updating any products for P3D and since the quality of all projects for P3D I am involved continues to be improved (I keep upgrading things so they look better), I don't see why they should be given away for free or at super ultra discounted prices? what would be then the incentive to continue improving them? sorry I am missing the logic there..

Sales for P3D are doing good, of course I imagine if I had something for MSFS it could probably sale more, however it doesn't mean P3D sales are zero, not at all..!!! neither Lockheed Martin is stopping improvements for P3D.

There is a miss conception that all 3rd party developers are dropping P3D, please remember some 3rd party developers have limited resources, and such resources are currently allocated to port over add-on's to MSFS since their own customer base has requested it, they can also be busy creating new content for other platforms. However most 3rd party devs are still supporting and updating their products for P3D and Xplane, many are even releasing new things for all platforms.

Yes, some developers stopped producing content entirely, this is true, but it doesn't mean EVERYONE is following this path or will follow this path.

Check out also Immersion packages, I worked on these in partnership with //42 (We have been working as partners now for years). Specifically A320 Immersion V2, 737 Immersion V2 and 777 Immersion V2. 777 V2 was one of my latest recent creations and contributions with //42. The 777 V2 wing condensation is my favourite effect created so far. I also was tasked with the latest touch up for 717 Immersion making it compatible for V5, this was a free update to all current customers and I added a full new set of dynamic lighting for the package.  

I am working on another immersion package as we speak. In addition, I might be working in a couple of secret projects. Developing 3rd party DLC content has been crazy since MSFS came out, I have never been so busy in my life mostly because as explained, I am keeping 100% support for P3D and I am not expecting to drop it any time soon!.

Diversity is a good thing to have .
