Lionheart Trinidad TB-21gt

Featured Replies

I never considered purchasing this after some early poor reviews.  However I saw a recent review stating it had been patched so I purchased it.  It indeed a very nice aircraft!  Cruises around 160kts, has a super rate of climb, trims nicely, flies smoothly and has good feel through the controls. In fact I think it feels super realistic in the landing phase.

If you have been put off before, maybe consider it again.  Available in the MS Marketplace or at Just Flight

We do seem to have an unfortunate situation where a lot of developers rush to get there products to the market early to beat competition and then a lot of reviewers rush to review the very first release to get lots of hits and hence the main reviews people find 6 months later are talking about issues that were fixed in the first few weeks.

I bought it day one and love the bird . Lots of speed but handles really well .

I took mine on a round the world tour in thirty five legs, then around Africa, presently around South America, next will be around Europe. I can't get enough of it, even after more than 400 hours on the real thing!...

Perfect, it is not, but pleasant to fly it is indeed, and several fixes made it much better than the initial release.

I think a lot of the criticism leveled at it is pretty unjustified to be honest, particularly given that it was the developer's first stab at making something for MSFS.

I'm not intending to be a negative nelly, but just in the interest of balance, views on this one are very, very mixed. I too saw the awful reviews, and then steadily improving reviews (as updates were released).  I bought it, and it is by far the worst addon I've purchased for MSFS to date.  Main issues I have are: appalling sound (engine sounds are aliased to default MSFS piston sounds) but there are no door opening sounds, switch sounds, or other ambient sounds. Just the basics like engine, flaps, etc.  The texturing is just.... well, certainly not to my taste! It's (still, after the updates) not optimized to full current SDK standards and performance is tougher than it should be, for those visuals.   Flight handling charasterics feel quite nice but are unconvincing against the numbers for this aircraft.  I uninstalled it and won't be re-installing it unless it's announced that it's been authored to the same standard as Lionheart's Quickie Q200 (which is fully MSFS authored, has full sound (albeit it's just the C152's sound, aliased), and is just exponentially more polished.

The TB-21 was, I guess, Lionheart's proof of concept for MSFS, their "first bash".  And IMHO, it really shows.

That argument would carry a lot of weight, for a freeware offering. For a commerical offering at a pretty standardized price, it doesn't really mean anything.  I guess some people are comfortable with paying for the privilege of buying a poorly rendered "first attempt", with sub-MSFS default aircraft features.

Except it's not an argument, it's my opinion, which is exactly why I prefaced it with 'I think'. People can feel free to disagree with it and I won't argue with them, but I'm inclined to be a bit more forgiving and supportive of a developer who has made a lot of cool stuff in the past, getting to grips with new working methods. If things didn't improve with subsequent products, then that would be more of a concern for me, but for effort number one, I am prepared to cut people some slack, especially when they tackle stuff other than Cessnas and Pipers.

There was a problem with frame rate / stuttering to start with, due to the instrumentation I think.  Was this ever fixed?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Yes, a few months ago.

In another thread somebody was against trains in the sim because it is a flight sim.  I have flown the Lionheart Trinidad several times and was resisting tiredness to go to bed because it handled so well.  I hadn't noticed the lack of click sounds or door opening sounds because it handled so well I was too busy flying.  I own all the Just flight arrows and they all have great sounds and good handling, but for me the lack of a click here and there takes away zero from the flying experience.  We are all different and I respect your needs in an aircraft may be different to others, but it is an injustice to call this add on 'the worst'.

I bought the TB-21GT from Just Flight this morning for £14.99, I cant fault it, I have done two flights in it, the latest from MUVR Florida Keys to KNQX Cuba navigating using VOR and landing using ILS, it all worked perfectly, a nice looking aircraft that flies really well with good instrumentation, performance and range, I most certainly would recommend it.😎

Got the Q200 from LHC and it's a great plane. LHC has developed (for prior sims) a great collection of non-mainstream planes and in general, they are really good plus you get a lot more than most for the money.
