G1000NXi looking good!

I'm actually somewhat amused as to how little traction or attention the NXi has gotten on these forums. I seem to recall this crowd yelling somewhat the loudest about how poor the original G1000 was, but relatively little fanfare about one that now does all the IFR stuff everyone wanted in the first place (and a good deal more).

For me it's been on the 'meh' side because of the aircraft selection. We still don't have any good quality payware to put the thing into. Your work is appreciated but we need folks like A2A or some sort of replacement for RealAir to make it to market. Even a VLJ featuring it would be neat. The Citation Mustang was certified for the thing, but we don't have one of those in this sim either. The stock planes stopped being interesting a year ago unfortunately.

I'd love to see a Phenom 100 or maybe a Cirrus Vision jet.  edit oh shoot looks like the vision uses the g3000 blah.  Then I guess you're limited to a few king air types with the nxi, some of the older turbine pipers, and maybe an old citation retrofit.

An issue with some the names we know like A2A, Realair, and MIlviz is that none of those three had models that were configured with G1000 variety avionics, and the depth of systems in their models may not be fully supported yet in MSFS.

Didn't the early Phenom 300's use the G1000?  Anyway I think this solves a lot of problems for getting a Phenom in MSFS because the builder could set it up to use the G1000Nxi.  Look at Carenado -- avionics and systems aren't their strong suit but the G1000Nxi could take care of that I think.

Yep forgot about that one.  So a 300 (non E version) with g1000 NXi.  MMO is .78 I think - so while not super fast it would be nicer than cruising around in the Baron at 2x or 4x time which is what I do sometimes when learning airspace.

The RealAir replacement is the Rob Young (RealAir) Turbo Bonanza 🙂

I don't think they'd play nicely in the real world either - you have a duplication of authority and function.  The Garmin G3X and GTN750 go together (as the G3X relies on the GTN for it's GPS capabilities).  However the G1000 NXi is an integrated GPS/NAV/COM/TX/TCAS/WX system.  The GTN offers similar provisions, albeit in a cut down, lower-priced, small-screen, touch interface.

I've never ever seen a G1000 and a GTN unit in the same aircraft together, and don't believe there'd ever be an advantage to such a pairing.

It's analogous to having two different Satnav models in your car, both trying to tell you how to get where you're going. 🙂

Thanks Bill - I do not use them in the same aircraft.  But having them installed in the sim at the same time caused problems with the G1000 NXi losing some of its normal functions even though I was not using the G750 in that aircraft.

It's decent but being default it's not a high fidelity addon.  Would love to see an in depth Lancair, Beech Duke etc.

Oh I see, I'm sorry - I completely misunderstood.  So there's a problem having both installed?   That's a completely different issue and I understand your frustration with that 👍

Thanks Bert, that's very kind!

Of course, we're not powered by fanfare, so we'll keep on building the thing out, because we actually really enjoy flying it too! 😉

Hi Matt,

Any chance of you doing a video taking folks through the G1000 NXi similar to what you did for the CJ4 with Filbert?  That was a fantastik video and really opened that plane up to me.

Thanks to you and your team for all that you have done to improve the user experience and fidelity!  Also, any plans to directly import flight plans from Simbrief similar to what is done on the CJ4?

Chris

I would like the good old RealAir planes revived as well, but while we are waiting.. the Turbo Bonanza is not what I would call "default".. it is really good!  🙂

Guys remember, once WT is done with the G1000Nxi it will be the default one which mean all 3rd party will be able to use it for their aircraft.

Just that it's got default systems etc.  Rob did a lovely job with the flight model.

Matt (WT) has said in the discord that they have no timeline of it ever being fully finished as of now, that could be a long long time
