KSFO will not load

Agreed.

However, what I’m giving up (hundreds of dollars of aircraft and scenery that work flawlessly in 5.1) versus pretty scenery, lessons, missions and discovery flights that are of no value for me. What I’m giving up for what I get simply isn’t worth it. As mentioned above, frickin’ KSFO doesn’t even load. ‘There working on that in the next update.’ 😂

I’m reinstalling 4.5 and 5.1 as we speak ( I use both). All my A2A planes, my Lear and 750GTN soon to be back in their stable. Oh yeah, I almost forgot my FlightBeam airports that aren’t subject to any updates. 😎

Cheers,

Mark

Here's another point of view and another way of looking at things:

If FSX is your grandma,  P3D is  your Mom,  x-Plane was your ex-girlfriend and MSFS is your new wife....I  really don't see anything wrong with your loving your grandma, your Mom, or your ex more than you love your new wife.

There's a lot of nice things to love about grandma, mom and your ex... BUT you just gotta realize...  there's a lot more things you can do in the future for sure with your new and very pretty wife.  Lol.

Hardware: i7-8700k, GTX 1070-ti, 32GB ram, NVMe/SSD drives with lots of free space.
Software: latest Windows 10 Pro, P3Dv4.5+, FSX Steam, and lots of addons (100+ mostly Orbx stuff).

My theory is that you can't spawn at Hayward Executive and/or KOAK either?   KSJC or KAPC work?

All this time I thought it was just me....

I've been experiencing this as well at various airports (KAVX, KBUR, KVNY) and thought it was a file system problem - resetting my rolling cache file seemed to fix it for a little but, but today I ran into this problem again while trying to start a flight at KHEF, which I fly from all the time and has nothing special about it.   I also had Windows Media Player open and it was streaming the LiveATC audio from the control tower (I thought I'd shoot some touch and goes while listening to live traffic in the pattern).

In each case, Task Manager reported MSFS had stopped responding.

On a hunch, I closed Windows Media Player and was able to start my flight - no more hangs on loading the flight!  Then it occurred to me that normally I also have Spotify open so I can listen to some tunes during a normal x-country flight, and when I don't run Spotify I also don't have this problem. So I'm leaning towards a conflict with background tasks or the file system being busy (streaming audio as described above will do that) and who knows maybe MSFS is running out of file handles.  Something points to a file system issue here.

"That's what" - She

What tribalism! Is all of this banter about the default sims?  I have kept a previous sim because I can still use it when these MSFS updates stifle us.  Not to mention the addons for my earlier sim in several categories are much better than most that are available for this new one.  Before SU5, its subsequent hotfixes, and the WT G1000 NXi I was flying my previous sim 70/30.  Since then that has gone the other way with MSFS gaining more hours logged.

MSFS still has no answer for me for my Realair Turbine Duke v2 or my A2A Cessna 182.  And I occasionally, as I wait, go back to fly my Milviz 310R.  All of those for typically 2 hour flights at altitudes between 8,000 and 20,000 with actual real time weather over Megascenery Earth V3 photoreal sceneries.

So I am now 70% MSFS, but that other 30% is not yet at risk.  For me it is about how I fly, not which I fly.

No need to uninstall anything.. I still have P3DV5.1. installed, complete with Orbx scenery and a2a airplanes..

I just find that I am flying MSFS 90+% of the time..

You uninstalled P3D.. but as you say, you can reinstall it.. 🙂

In the process...

No argument there.

This is a perfect example of what I don't want to get involved with.

It’s kind of like that old VHS library that I used to have.  Bought a ton of movies, several VHS decks - was a decent cash outlay.  I’m sure if I hooked it up to my tv I could watch them without issue and without having to remember which frighten streaming service I’m trying to find.

…. But … erm yeah …. pass.

Sorry.

Flightbeam KSFO- Flysimware Lear 35 with a working RealityXP 750 GTN- ORBX TE Northern CA and high resolution textures ain't a VHS. :>)

Ok fine, maybe a laserdisc.  Still looks dated.

Mark, perhaps I should have added that KSFO loaded fine for me and I believe many others. I've been reading this forum for over a year now, and failure to add specific airports hasn't risen to the level of common problem.

Best wishes.

Flew in and out of KSFO yesterday, and KDEN today.

It's removed from my system.

I'm reloading my A2A aircraft and the PMDG DC6, among others.

I'll try this again in the future, maybe.

Be well,

Good for you.

Yep--flawless.  No CTDs, no missing airports, all purchased and installed thru the Marketplace.   I'm very picky on 'mods' and use only a couple of liveries and the HD mod for 787-10.  I also run Spotify and LiveATC.net with all flights.  Early on people were scrambling to clog up this new evolving sim w/ every mod imaginable--I wished them well, and guessed they'd be the ones constantly reporting issues.

Any ideas?

If I understand the OP, ideas were asked for. Many were provided. Were any tried and, if so, how did it go?

Here's the reality of MSFS as I see it:  it's absolutely a constant work in progress.  To me this means--treat it as such, be very judicious in adding any mods, forget using Dev Mode to spawn to other airports if that type of stuff is what you are doing, or any other actions besides keeping it simple.  Things change frequently--even in the background, when you're not looking and when there is no formal update.  If you can't restrain yourself to this, but instead expect pedal-to-the-metal tolerance of anything you want to throw at it then you'll likely run into more issues.  Today, out of nowhere, when getting ready to pushback out of LGAV's A 5 gate, I noticed the plane started moving but the pushback tug did not move-first time in ever for me.  Instead of posting a new thread, "The pushback tugs aren't moving are you seeing this?!", I just expect little things like this and deduce it may well have to do w/ MS/A working on something in the background that needed attention.  IOW tailor your expectations for the fact this is a constant work-in-progress, which ultimately is a very, very good thing.  I know this is useless preachiness, but again I've really had no major issues now since launch, including purchasing thru the MS Store and all updates have been dandy.  Incredible performance, visuals, steady progress, I'm happy to be patient and watch the amazement unfold.  3 days ago I decided to bite the bullet and do a new install of Windows 10 on a backup NVMe m.2 drive because I inadvertently had used legacy MBR on my initial install 1.5y ago so was not able to continue certain Windows Updates.  So with a blank slate MSFS reinstalled flawlessly with just a few clicks.  In the process, I'm left w/o P3D 4.5 which I've rarely used for so long now.  If MSFS takes a real dump for weeks I will reinstall P3D, but otherwise I don't see it happening.  I really was enjoying the NGXu but we read PMDG NG is coming fairly soon now so can wait.  In the mean time the B787 HD mod is satisfying that itch very well--heading for the fabulous EDDF right now.  I am using an old Cessna Trim Wheel as a tiller rudder control and it's made taxiing the 787 really sweet!

The short version:  tailor your expectations to reality and enjoy.  If you can't do that, best check out until things are more mature.
