Allow me to digress since we're talking about internet speeds...

Around 2015 or so, the neighborhood where I used to live decided they wanted to upgrade to fiber. The modems and equipment were mailed out to each and every one of us before they started laying the cables.
So when the day came, they drilled a hole in my wall and pulled the fiber cable through it. The cable guy was going from house to house to hook it up for everyone.
But being a nerd, I decided to hook it up myself. When the cable guy came, he was surprised to find everything up and running inside my apartment already. "Oh great, I'll just go to the next one".

The same evening I was testing my new connection. To my surprise, it was topping out at 1000 mbit both up and down! I had ordered only 400 mbit. So I sent the internet provider an email explaining it. No answer.
The next day I decided to do some more testing. So I hooked up another computer. Decided to run tests on that one at the same time as the other. Well, to my surprise I was getting 1000 up/down on both (actually sending and receiving huge files, not just internet speed tests).
So now I knew I was having at least 2000 up / down, and the only thing restricting the speed was the network module on the motherboard of each computer topping out at 1000.

No matter how many devices I connected, they would all max out. At the same time.

Long story short, I had completely unlimited internet speeds for more than a year until they finally discovered it and throttled it back to 400 or so. 😄

"Ta daaaaaaa"   Same as for myself. Exactly.  My post only wanted to tell everybody 'my' experience.  That with changing nothing in my system, with changing nothing in-sim...and ONLY being upgraded from 360 to 945, all my artifacts that I had, (and everybody mostly has..at some time of a flight) since RTM, are gone.  Vanished...with my running downloads at potential up to 945 Mb's.   I will say, (non flight sim and directly using MSFS) that my downloading speed of files in GB's is jaw dropping. I download 1 GB at 1.20 seconds per GB!   What used to take (on super large files) minutes from 3 to 12...is now almost instant.  Wham...bam...the file zip is ready to rock and roll....that alone, would be worth it for me to pay to make the jump into 'high gear'.... 🙂

Ditto!!!

I've been saying for awhile now that a lot of problems, people have been endlessly, chasing visually, all come down to the quality and speed of your internet!

From my get-go, at a 1GB's service, all my tests kept coming up at 945/47 or so. So...I called my ISP provider and asked why I was not seeing 1000 Mb's..and he said that Cable Tech to date, ONLY will allow a pass through of 945/50 Mb's, SO...he said that I in fact had the full Cable pass through at this time. He said that as the system is upgraded with more fiber, I will automatically see a rise to at least 1000 Mb's, so...to enjoy your already lightning pipeline, and it will only get better over time.

"Ok...thank you!".....

Kilo, when I saw the result of my going to 1GB's service, I was so excited to share my experience and findings.  If this thread helps anybody out with their scenery resolution artifacts...any kind, then the purpose was fulfilled. Nothing truly more than that...was not trying to convert anybody...if they are happy with what they have at present, and are happy with their scenery 'real time' rendering as they fly over it...and at whatever in-sim settings, ...then as they say...that's that.

One other big item to consider is ISP / DNS latency. Minimizing this should have a positive benefit as well (within the sim and generally as well).

Dylan, I invite you to demonstrate/enlighten the steps one can do to engage what you suggest!  Anything that get one's 'what's THAT?' gone...is positive flow through! 🙂

Cheers!

I had issue after issue stutters, pauses. Turned out to be my Router. Upgraded to a better one.  Also found out that the wiring in the house was old and just cat 5. I switched out to a cat 6 and up my service to 500 mbs . I really believe most issues are caused by inferior hardware and the need for good solid signal. Also we are at the mercy of the servers.

I also benefited greatly in the FPS department, but Mr. Zo6, it still rendered artifacts the same as even at RTM.  Going to a 945 Mb's pipeline, (with the same FPS produced, that did not increase...)  no more scenery resolution artifacts...scenery pop ups, a fast flashing A.I. texture...or morphing, or even some NUKE in heavy dense city cores.  That's why I will swear on a Bible if need's be,...that as they say...lol-----> Downstream Pipeline SIZE...DOES MATTER!   You know...as they say....(lol).

Very true I've found the rendering to be much better at home where I have a 500mbps connection than with random hotel internet which varies from abysmal 1.5mbps to over 100mbps at a few hotels most are in the 10-15mbps range..
