October 25, 20214 yr Author Going back to this thread I quoted above, I tried the full solution below. (Words of the person who used it, not me). Quote Firstly I reset Gaming Services, then proceeded with the following:1. Go to C:\Program Files\WindowsApps find 2 gaming services folders, take ownership and delete.2. Open RegEdit as an administrator and delete the following:Keys.[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CProgram Files%5CWindowsApps%5CMicrosoft.GamingServices_2.45.11001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cresources.pri][HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Classes\Local Settings\MrtCache\C:%5CProgram Files%5CWindowsApps%5CMicrosoft.Gamingservices_2.45.11001.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe%5Cresources.pri\1d6937194966bce]Services.[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServices][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GamingServicesNet]The version numbers may be different depending on what you have installed.3. Restart your PC.4. Once restarted open Microsoft Store find Gaming Services and install, it will now work. 1. Had to 'Take Ownership' (after adding the option to the Windows context menu with a registry tweak). Had to reboot into Safe Mode to delete the 2nd folder as it was supposedly being accessed by something else. 2. I didn't have those keys. I had Left them alone as I wasn't sure if I might cause problems deleting them. Perhaps I should only have 2 entries, regardless of the version number. Maybe one or two of you could check your own registries? Interestingly, the first of those previously missing keys had appeared, so I deleted it. 3. Rebooted. 4. Still sent to Store to install Gaming Services! If any of you have more than 2 of those keys in your registry, I will try deleting mine (after backing it up again of course). I don't know if it's in the slightest way connected (especially as this sort of problem has been around since the sim launched), but I can't help wondering if there's a problem with MS Store. I noticed last night that there's a "New MS Store" launched for Win11 and that it will be made available in Win10 "in the coming months". I don't want to be waiting till then for a resolution of course.😬 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)
October 26, 20214 yr Author Referring back to my comments 3 posts above, I found I could finally delete the second Gaming Service folder in 1. by stopping the Microsoft Store Install Service in Task Manager's Services tab. I then went ahead and deleted all the keys I listed in 2. I rebooted and Gaming Services already showed as installed. Starting MSFS led to... ... starting MS Store and prompting to install Gaming Services on my devices again!🤬 I'm at the stage that I have no confidence as I'm trying a solution that it will work once I've completed it.😒 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

October 26, 20214 yr I've had exacly that problem with looping gaming services a couple of months ago with mutiple entries of gaming services int the registry. Tried remove the gaming services in the registry and repair and reinstall the gaming services and what not, but nothing helped, so I finally after swearing like a sailor for a couple of days bite the bullet and did a complete windows install to sort it out 🙄. If I ever encounter this problem again I'll probably go the Steam route once and for all. Come here you big, beautiful cup of coffee and lie to me about how much we’re going to get done today.

In theory, that should re-install Windows relatively painlessly, although it's obviously not a clean install. But I don't want to have the hassle of re-installing MSFS and many other games etc which now reside on this PC. It's looking like my only remaining option other than starting from scratch. I've paid enough for MSFS already, I really don't wan to buy it again through Steam. October 26, 20214 yr I had horrible problems with this over the past two days, since installing the latest Windows update. That update put me into the Gaming Services loop that is not easily recoverable. The solution that worked for me was to reinstall Windows 10. I determined the Gaming Services service was corrupted. Windows thought it was installed, but I had removed every trace of it (well, apparently not, but I couldn't find it anywhere including the registry.) Because Windows thought it was installed, reinstalling it did nothing, as did trying to install Flight Simulator again -- which was necessary because one of the things I tried to get it going was to uninstall and reinstall it. Neither the Gaming Services service nor Flight Simulator would install. So, I took the plunge and reinstalled Windows 10, whilst keeping my personal data and settings, and I am happy to report Flight Simulator is presently happily downloading and, I presume, shortly I'll again have a working simulator. By the way, do install from the standard game. If you have Deluxe or Premium Deluxe then those packages will install along with Standard. Don't try to install directly from Deluxe or Premium Deluxe. It gets confused going that way.

October 27, 20214 yr Author I started a full backup with maximum compression at midnight, which estimated a 20hr completion time. Here we are at almost 18:00 UK time, and with 2 hours to go to the deadline, the estimate says... 20 hours! It's going to be some time before I can try 'freshening up' Windows and seeing if that solves things. 5 hours ago, peloto said: I had to reinstall W10 for this too 😕 I'm confused as to the relevance of your 2 links.🤔 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)
