MSFS 2020 not Responding

Featured Replies

Hi,

I desperately need help.

The last update went off without a hitch, but turning the flight simulation on the following day it does not want to play.

I have the 10 disc premium deluxe version. I have over four days now, completely uninstalled, including my community, reinstalled the 10 discs. Completed the full online update.

MSFS starts up, I can get into the main screen, select a aircraft and flight.

The Sim starts off as normal then it fails to respond and sits with the blue bar three quarters across the base of the screen.

On Ctrl Alt Del, the task manager shows MSFS is not responding, I have CPU percentage but No GPU.

My system is completely up-to-date, with windows 10, Nvidia drivers. i9 10900K, 3080 GPU, 32Gig of Ram.

It has worked perfectly up until now.

All other aspects of my system work, are working without fault. The only Game/ Simulation is on this system,

I have tried most suggestions I've found on the forum, but am now completely exhausted. Internet in my area is very slow, I started the reinstall on Friday and it completed early Sunday morning.

I have just gone to run it in its base form and same problem as per the last two complete reinstalls.

PLEASE HELP

This seems like a sign-in issue.  Is this a Microsoft Store purchase?  Have you installed into your computer Windows system the standalone Microsoft Store application and signed in? (not the website, the separate Microsoft Store application).  Are you signed in online into both the xBox site and the Microsoft site?  I know it sound over cumbersome.  It is!  Without a doubt.  But all of that may need to be accomplished.

Some fixes from various threads.

1.  Turn off your virus checker and see if it runs - seems to work fine with Windows defender but some others not.
2.  In your MSFS settings, have you set your download speed to unlimited? If so, try a lower setting.
3.  Go to the Microsoft Store on the web and change your password. This will force a sign in to the store/xbox app. May work for you.

This is the Boxed Premium Deluxe version, I am both signed into the store, Xbox and in the Simulation.

I've now just discovered 39.94 GiB not installed, so I will do these updates, which down here in Western Australia will take all day.

I will be back, when I've got this sorted, thankyou for your kind advice.

Exact same issue for me today.  Flight loading and the blue line stops and nothing, just hangs.  Closed out and tried again several times with no luck.  Decided to restart and that worked, not sure what happened.

If restarting doesn't work, try safe mode see if it loads a flight.

I had to reinstall after a Windows Update on Friday. The sim would start but could not load any content. All my addon updaters such as Contrail and OrbX no longer thought that MSFS was installed at all.

Since all your non sim programs work fine, and MSFS works fine until you load up a flight, and have a cpu per centage but not a gpu percentage, it may be your graphics card is not working correctly.  I would check the graphics card in something like MSI afterburner. Just a quick test to see if the gpu card looks like it is working OK. not to tweak it or anything.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Signed in, Microsoft Store, Xbox site and the Microsoft site.

Fully updated now, can get in to select a departure, aircraft, it all appears to be loading, then just sits in same position.

Check task manager and MSFS not responding.

No antivirus.

Have changed nothing from, when it was working prior to update

This looks like the same post-SU6 bug I'm plagued with so this fix might help:

Start the SIM, make all the preparations for the flight but than before starting it go to general and lower all the graphics to Low. Start the flight and once you're in the plane bring the graphic settings back to your likings.

Hope it helps!

Thanks, Tried your method.

Still the bar slides across as if its going to work, then it just sits, and doesn't move.

Check Task Manager, MSFS not responding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just Devastated

Hi Fellow Flight Simmers.

Is there anyone, anyone from the brains trust, that can cast anymore light on what I should do?

Do I have a corrupt Registry?

I've Uninstalled, completely Reinstalled, Nothing in Community folder.

I keep going over the same things, and end up with the same result.

I'm open to all, and any suggestions of something I haven't tried.

Even reinstalled new Nvidia Drivers again.

So once again I'm about to dump everything and start again, but am I missing deleting something? P3D had a whole bunch of files in different areas that had to be removed before a clean installation, am I missing these?

This file continually showed up as a fault in the Error Log File-Could not open file: 'SimObjects\Airplanes\Asobo_103Solo_SmallWheels\model\103solo_cockpit.xml

Problem solved, deleted this aircraft in my content manager and the Simulator started, FOR NOW?

Not sure if this will help ... there is another thread here where one of the posters uses a Microsoft monitoring program 'ProcMon64' and swears that everytime he runs that then MSFS behaves and loads into a flight and without it running, it hangs just as you described.  I've had one problem with this error, but haven't had to run procmon though have downloaded it from the MS site and installed it as FS has been loading OK for me recently.

Best of luck.

Paul Davies.

Glad to see you solved it - you can ignore my post then.

Paul Davies.
