BonanzaTurbo V4.1 hotfix released

Because… the NXi and all other default aircraft MSFS use JavaScript/HTML as the programming language for instruments and displays. Radar is available via the SDK for aircraft using that development environment for displays. That has been the case since almost the initial release of MSFS

The Aerosoft CRJ, PMDG 737 and likely the Fenix A320 use (or will use) C++ as the primary development language and in MSFS, C++ code is compiled to run under WASM.

There is (as yet) no provisions in the SDK - no API - that would permit a WASM add-on to access the location of clouds or precipitation in the Live Weather environment of MSFS. Until there is, WASM aircraft will not be able to provide radar.

Excellent explanation, thank you!

I think this has been covered but will de-icing become functional at some point?

The G36 is NOT approved for flight into known icing.  The heated prop let's you get out of trouble, not knowingly get into it 🙂

There are aftermarket STCs to add de-ice capability to Bonanzas - either pneumatic boots or TKS liquid anti-ice. The pneumatic solution might not be compatible with the turbo-normalized engine modeled in Rob’s version - I’m not certain. The TKS system is self-contained, but requires new leading edges which reduces climb and cruise performance and adds quite a bit of weight.

As you say, with any single engine piston GA aircraft, the best policy is to avoid known icing, and to get out of icing conditions as quickly as possible if encountered.

The C208B Caravan was originally equipped with pneumatic boots, and although it was certified for known icing, experience showed that boots were not sufficient in severe icing conditions. Over a 20 year period, FedEx lost several Caravans due to icing. Two of those crashes happened here in New York State. All FedEx Caravans have now been retrofitted with TKS, and all new Caravans now come with TKS from the factory.

No deicing system will keep up with severe icing.  That said, the caravan will carry some ice.  I landed one in aurora IL over 20 years ago and my buddy came out of the FBO with a ruler... we measured 3 inches of ice on the nose strut.  Boots were pretty overwhelmed and it took a lot of power to remain on glideslope. Ah the (not so) good old days...  😉

Is this mod working with SU7 ? Modern flight is selected.  MSFS does not freeze, I still see the basic G36 but it's not the turbo with it's 9 liveries. So, I suspect the mod is not seen by MSFS.

It should appear just like before SU7.. Check your Content Manager.

Watch this video beginning at 2:03. Again at 21:10 and hear Juan's advice to N8402Q waiting to take-off. The conditions represented in this accident progression are NOT for piston GA to be flying in, deice or no deice equipment. I can tell you from personal experience that chances are when you find yourself needing deice in small GA you have made some very poor decisions. Probably a good idea very few have deice (and significantly fewer are certified for known icing) - represents too much of a temptation to certain personality types.
