So I just purchased a 3080ti and I’m currently using a 1440p gaming monitor.

Is a 3080ti good enough to run MSFS in 4K?

Is it worth buy a 4K monitor if I’m already using 1440p? Will I noticed a big difference?

I plan on purchasing a monitor over a TV because I do play some FPS games and I love Gsync and 144hz.

Thanks.

Where 4K makes the most difference is on large-format monitors where the pixel size starts becoming clearly discernible.  4K on smaller (<40-inch) screens presents the same GPU workload without much difference in image quality.

I have both a 4K display (55-inch 4K TV @30Hz) and a 34-inch 21:9 1440p G-Sync monitor @120Hz, and image quality is good on both.  For simming, I much prefer the big screen's greater real estate...for games the ultra-wide display with G-Sync is my favorite.

The 3080Ti should be strong enough to run Simzilla, but maybe not at the same ultra settings you could pull off driving the 1440p display.

Ahh man so I gotta decide on whether or not I get a large TV or just keep my current monitor.

Instead, I would just be happy with what you have... which hits the sweet spot IMHO 🙂

What is your flying style?  Ex. I have a 4K 28" flat monitor driven by an 8 GB 3070 ti. I am mostly not into low-level sightseeing.  Perhaps a wee bit on departure.  Perhaps some upon arrival. But those are the work-intensive segments of any flight!   Based on influence of winds and of fuel costs I fly GA and cruise at altitudes from 4,000 to perhaps 15,000.  For perhaps 95% of my flight time I observe little if any difference between what I have time to see between 4K and 1440.  That is based on my flying style.  And obviously at 1440 I have a steady and smooth experience!

So the question again is what is your flying style?

I sim on a 4k 55 inch TV about 2 feet away - 4k is simply amazing with that screen size - sometimes it totally looks real. But, yeah, you need a big screen to make 4k worth your while.... For me personally it was a good decision, that I am really happy with...

You might want to stay with 1440p, not because of performance but because those really annoying lines dead center from left to right are more visible at 4K large screens than 1440p.

Cheers, Rob.

What lines do mean?

I wonder also. I am running at 4k with the 43" TV in my signature and don't see any lines.
