I tried multiple times last night to purchase and download the Kodiak from the developers site but no joy. Their server(s) need some tuning and/or upgrading! Purchased from an online sim retailer at a higher price but well worth the cost. The Kodiak is a remarkably fun simulation to fly in VR.

Don't forget to set the DX11 option. DX12 caused CTD's on my machine.

System: i9-14900K, Asus ROG Z790 MB, 64GB ram, Samsung 4TB NVMe SSD, Asus ROG Strix 4090, Pimax Crystal Light

Hardware: VitualFly Yoko yoke, VirtualFly TQ6+ throttle quadrant, Thrustmaster TPR pedals, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS

Simulations: MSFS 2024 and 2020 (VR), P3Dv5.3 (VR), X-Plane 11.5 (VR), DCS (VR)

How much down trim is best for takeoff? I think the manual says 0-75% but that's a huge range. Real videos don't appear to show this much pull to the left. I'm trying to get smoother takeoffs.

Took a look at the developer's website and knew immediately that designing a smooth web and purchase interface isn't their strong suit.

Bought it via the Contrailapp and downloaded the plane in under 2 minutes.

That depends heavily on your load and cg. Elevator trim from 0% at cg forward limit 14% up to 75% when cg is at aft limit of 40%. Rudder trim between 30-50% depending on crosswind component and own liking. Very gentle input on rotate... The Kodiak likes to fly off on its own. In addition it will vary slightly on the sensitivity of your controllers and how you like them...

This plane is a handful.

And definitely not suited for lazy sim pilots who prefer to hit the AP button as soon as the wheels are off the ground, then go to sleep, only to wake up when the aircraft yells retard retard at them.😁

The manual needs to be read, various parameters need to be carefully considered: loadout, CG, rudder trim, etc.

Failure to do this will lead to a quick return to the ground and many $$$$ in the pockets of the local undertaker.

I like it. Time to sharpen those piloting skills!

And remember: Failing to prepare means preparing to fail!

It depends on your ingame settings. Mine takes off on ts own with just the throttle. The trim just needs to be set to like .03. I don't do the payload, fuel or engine management realism etc. Just the basic realistic crashes so Im not cheating on the landing. I also have wind set at 0 speed no no flight stress during flight, Getting the reverse thrust to work took some treaking. I dont have a detent on my CH Fighterstick Y-axis but it does have a trim calibration wheel and when I have full movement of the Y-axis = Full throttle movement, I get reverse thrust. I just have to be careful in the air when I back off the throttle as I have no detent toknow if I'm going into reverse..
