track ir

Hi, I have done all the steps such as making sure track ir software is updated , game list updated etc and set my profile in the software for msfs....In the sim, my track ir shows in the controller options menu, along with all my other peripherals. But in the sim, I have no head tracking. Do I need to set it up like the other controllers, IE setting axis etc? I have scoured the net and cant see any threads or guides about this.

Can anyone advise please? Thanks!

You are starting TrackIR before you start MSFS?

Because that’s all you need to do and if you on the none beta version make sure you use the option in the camera to turn TrackIR on there. That’s a bug that’s now fixed.

When it a flight it’s the camera option with the mouse over options at the top of screen.

Did you turn it on in the in flight menu. Under camera....you can turn it on there if the Track IR software is running.

Track IR is currently broke. It turns off as soon as you centre the view which makes Track IR completely useless. Maybe this will be fixed somewere next year.

Working fine in the opt-in beta, which fixes a lot of other issues also, such as the cloud banding and assistance settings resetting to easy etc.

Yep you need to do the "workaround" and enter the Beta, as MS/Asobo didn't pull their finger out in the five weeks prior to Xmas in order to release a much needed Hotfix unfortunately.

As is mentioned, they broke it and now you need to "enable headtracking" in the options. If I were you I would assign a key to this function as you will need it a lot. Every time you pause TrackIR or the sim thinks you have it will disable head tracking and re-centre the view making trackIR half useless. I'm still annoyed they let this happen but I'm even more annoyed that it's still a thing.

cool, thanks!

I have found how to get the beta, have installed the xbox insider hub, I pressed join on the preview for MSFS, but the next option seems to be installing the game again via the hub, which I dont want to do......

What am I missing? The instrcutions I found online (https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/how-to-participate-in-the-public-beta/480099) say it should give you a mandatory update at this stage.....which I did not see? And then a small update within the sim?

Now that I am flying the Kodiak, this track IR is getting to be a major PIA.  Much knob adjusting is done with the G1000 NXI, and not being able to freeze the image while doing it  is making it very difficult. To me, this just shows a total disregard for the users by Asobo.

OpenTrack using the Puck from GrassMonkey works perfectly, you can start or stop tracking any time, center, launch after starting. It just works.

Maybe just use OpenTrack with your head set instead of the TrackIR software. It is also super easy to tune the curves.

OpenTrack is free.

The problem is not TrackIR or its software. The problem is that Asobo broke how TrackIR works in MSFS. Beta version 1.21.18 has fixed the problem that Asobo created.

Haven't tried OpenTrack but I bet it's a good product, like TrackIR, until Asobo breaks the way it works in the sim.

This is incorrect.  Assign a key or button to enable head tracking and it will work fine.  In the opt in beta this is fixed.

No, it is broken and it certainly does not work "fine". You cannot use the pause function at all which is a major feature in using it. It may be fixed in the beta but in the official release TrackIr is broken.

You are wrong, it does not work fine when you assign a key to enable head tracking. You still can't pause tracking to adjust a control in the cockpit.
