This was fun to watch but Elon fans might not agree...

In reality of course, the people behind this stunt knew exactly what they were doing

Indeed they did. They knew that an option was to strip it. Blow it up.  And feel good about it. And, maybe make a little money at the same time. Nothing wrong with that. Even Elon would admit that's how capitalism works. BTW, I don't think it's Tesla people hate. Rather, it's the guy who started it all.

I said Tesla haters, not "Tesla people hate". And as I say, you need lots of clicks to make money and the haters will have clicked in droves and be duly monetised.

And he shouldn't hate unless he's brain dead. His car was out or warranty, including the generous 8 years warranty for the battery. And it was modified, Illogical to hate on that basis. What did he expect, Tesla to ignore the warranty being out of date and give him a free battery. 🙄

He must have known when he started messing about with his car and modifying it that he was risking the warranty. Not to mention that his tampering could have been the cause of the battery issues. Many Tesla batteries do 300,000 miles before issues. And even on to "second use" for energy storage.

What principles? Tesla weren't at fault. So what principles?

It cost less than 4,000 dollars to replace the battery in a Toyota Prius.  I bought my 2019 Prius in late 2019.  The battery is warranted for 10 years or 120,000 miles.  So my Prius battery is warranted until I'm 94 years old.  I'm only driving it a little over 1,000 miles a year so no running out of the mileage warranty there.  I only fill it up a couple times a year.  So it's the ideal car for an old man who only drives to Walmart or the super market and back or to doctor appointments.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

A Tesla nicely parted-out... sounds like the perfect end.  All the teeny, tiny pieces seem a fitting end!😉

The best part of this thread was reading Martin defending Musk and Tesla and explaining to us why blowing up a defective Tesla isn't a big deal.

The principle that says let your actions speak louder than your words. He could have complained until doomsday and no one would have paid any attention to him. So he acted. And his action does, indeed, speak louder than any words he might have spoken. The most common definition of a principle is that it's a general belief about the way you, as a person, should behave which influences your behavior. So by definition Tesla, as a corporation, per se, has no principles to begin with.

Your prius is a HYBRID. The battery is a fraction of the size and value of a model S battery that encompasses the entire floor pan. And the battery in the Model S is warrantied for 8 years, barely much diferant to your ten year warranty. And in some US states Prius warranty is also 8 years.  So not sure how that is relevant to this thread.

Huh... that makes zero sense. I would "defend" anyone who wasn't guilty. The Tesla had been modified by the owner and was beyond the 8 year warranty period, thus the claim on the battery warranty wasn't valid. That's no different to you running along to Toyota, after 11 years, and complaining that your mini Prius hybrid battery wasn't working and throwing your dummy out of the pram because they wouldn't give you a free one.

And no, blowing up an "out of warranty" Tesla isn't a big deal, it's the usual stuff we see on YouTube to get clicks and make money.

So no, it's not about defending Tesla, in fact as we've discussed before, there is much about the company I don't like, their customer service being one of them. But unlike you I an prepared to be honest and point out the fact that there was zero culpability by Tesla.

So if you disagree and regard Tesla as being culpable in some way then please elaborate how. Do you think vehicles should have infinite warranties? Infallible components that never fail? Ignore all warranties and give away free stuff?

If none of the above, was it awesome to YOU that the Tesla was blown up just out of spite?

Not sure how the above "principle" is valid when it's based on lack of validity. His principle wasn't valid. He had modified the vehicle and it was beyond the warranty. If there is a "principle" its the principle of wanting free stuff beyond the warranty period.

And "could have complained" is ridiculous because there was no wrongdoing on the part of Tesla to complain about in the first place.

The battery was beyond the warranty period. Done! Period, as you guys say. Full stop, as we say.

As Noel admitted before he went on his anti-electronic sabbatical, he likes to wind me up. As I don't appreciate such things, especially as I'm recovering from a certain virus, I will respond no more.
