Reserved in what way?

If Ctrl+2 is assigned to something with the Kodiak, I would think you could un-assign and then re-assign it to meet your needs. I see Ctrl+2 as assigned to Toggle Instrument View 2 on my system. If you want to use that key combo for something else, then simply remove the existing key binding. Does that not work?

Ctrl+2 would be fine but with the Kodiak Ctrl+2 is the throttle quadrant.  With all my other aircraft Ctrl+2 is the center of the panel, usually the G1000. I have not learned how to reassign Ctrl+2.  I have only learned how to save new views using an Alt+# combination.

For some reason I am not having success with that.  What on my keyboard are the Up Down Left Right keys?  I have tried the (4) arrow keys and the 8,2,4,6 keys on the keyboard numpad.  None of them changes the camera position.

I use the arrow keys and the + and - for zoom. check in MS2020 by pushing an arrow key and see if it is binded to something else. Must be a conflict somewhere.

Perhaps I should check the function of the arrow keys in other aircraft.  In the Kodiak the arrow keys are not changing any dimension of view.  Up, Down, Right, Left.  They are just not changing?  Any conflict would be coming from something else installed as I have not previously screwed around with any MSFS camera view capabilities.

This is expressly why aftermarket developers should adopt existing conventions instead of dancing by itself off in a corner.

There are many tutorials on YouTube for learning how to set up camera views. For example

You just have to invest a little time to get up to speed.  Similarly there are videos on setting up key bindings, etc. Think of it as ground school on new aircraft systems. 😉

So when my Up Down Left Right keys are not producing the intended results in the aircraft I am attempting to adjust, then what is your response?  I have watched videos and invested time ad nauseum.  I will see what occurs in another aircraft tomorrow.  I am getting no response from those keystrokes when in the Kodiak.  Referring to the (4) arrow keys on my keyboard as well as the 8,2,4,6 keys on my keyboards numpad, regardless of the state of numlock or scroll lock.

In my plane they move me left, right, forward and backwards.... And sometimes (rarely) those movements are switched at random (so pressing left suddenly has me going backwards). Somehow the viewing system is a little bit buggy in MSFS (imho). I remember having real problems getting certain keys to work as I wanted them. Luckily MSFS saves everything in the cloud and everything worked right away as I was used to after reinstalling MSFS on my new PC!

Another tip that might help the OP is that after assiging a key to an action you should search for that key (search by input) to check if that key is assigned to other options as well: you do get a warning message when you assign a key to something while it's already been assigned to something else but MSFS doesn't solve that problem for you by deleting the original assignement. For me it always help to manually delete any existing assignement that might be in the way or which I might never use anyway. (Unfortunately deleting an assignement is also a PITA in MSFS, requiring too may mouse clicks...)

My issue is the pilot seat. I can't get the camera back far enough wo the pilot seat obstructing the view.

Picked up the Kodiak today.  Spent about 30 minutes of familiarization in the cockpit this afternoon and was very surprised to find that Simworks did not provide dedicated camera view of the MFD.  My 73 year old eyes seem to need that.  Has anyone here replaced another view with one of the MFD and willing to share?  With my Honeycomb Bravo I do not need the provided camera view of the quadrant so I could sub in an MFD view.  I also anticipate little use of the cockpit overhead view.  I can pan up there and back when seldom needed.  I have zero experience in creating a camera view to replace another.  Any assistance would be highly appreciated!

Bought this plane yesterday and had the same observation -(if you'll pardon the pun).  I also saw that there was a "better cameras" mod for it at the .to but it doesn't really address the dedicated MFD view.  I also like my default pilot view to show a bit of the AP functions so I can switch modes without having to adjust my view.   So I made my own modification to camera config file that provides the following per example shots below:

  • Adjusted default pilot view
  • Adjusted Instrument view to be a bit more zoomed in and not so angled
  • Adds a dedicated MFD view that is properly zoomed
  • Tweaks the circuit breaker panel ew to inckuyde the rudder trim buttons

If this is what you are looking for and care to try it, here a download link for the updated camera configs to go in your community folder as usual.

Took a while, and use of another keyboard, but I resolved the issues.  I found that the four arrow keys were not defined for any actions in my MSFS Control Options.  Then I could not find the corresponding actions: Translate Cockpit View right, left, up, or down.  Had to use the search box to find them.  Got them assigned and then finally got a custom view and assigned to Alt+2.  Now I just have to work out a yoke button for Allt+2.  In all my other aircraft I have a button assigned for the default Ctrl+2 to bring up a straight on view of the MFD.

Thanks to all for the help and patience.
