Juggling all those aircraft!

Featured Replies

G'day everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone has found an addon or utility to manage our hangered aircraft? It's nice to have so many options to choose from but when you've settled on 4-5 favourites that you fly all the time it gets a little tedious scrolling through all the available planes to get to what you want.

It'd be great if there was a way of a saving favourites or most often flown aircraft and I wonder if anybody knows if it's been done?

Cheers

Warwick

I’m at a point now where I’ll search for the aircraft I want as it does indeed take a while to scroll through.  I agree it would be nice to be able to have aircraft marked as favourites though.

To approach it from a different direction you could delete the aircraft you never use

Addons Linker definitely, plus uninstall any you definitley don't ever use via the in-sim content manager. With all the converted aircraft as well as the payware ones I've probably got around 60 or so aircraft to select from. Way too many to have active. Had a couple of hundred in P3D and would have driven me mad there without messing with the config editor.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

What I've started to do for addon aircraft I own, but never fly is just change their visibility in the aircraft selection screen - this is preferred by me because I still want to see the appropriate models when multiplayer users are flying the aircraft.

This is done in the aircraft.cfg, it's also useful if there's specific liveries or variants of an aircraft that you don't care to use.

That's what I do too. It is the easiest way to manage not only add-on planes, but all add-on scenery too.

Any attempt to stretch fuel is guaranteed to increase headwinds

Hey Bernd,

I've done that to a degree but found that I keep getting reminders in Content Manager to reinstall.

Great advice, I've not got a great deal of extra content yet (still moving over from P3D), but this seems like something I should definately do.

Thanks guys

Hey Bernd,

I have discovered this to be somewhat annoying behavior in MSFS. Some default airplanes, the content manager will happily let you delete them and they are gone until you decide to reinstall them.. others, no. For example, I have no plans on flying the new Pitts S1, yet it is impossible to delete from the game. If you remove it from the Content Manager, the next time you start up it will flag it as content that needs to be restored and downloaded. The PC6 also exhibits this behavior. I tried to remove some of the default liveries and they were flagged as needing to be re-downloaded.

Frustrating and inconsistent, given you can delete some of the default aircraft with no issue... like the 747 or the Pitts S2.

I just use the search feature.

I mostly fly the F16 and H145, but I fly lots of others as well.

The search works great for me.

Isn't there a favorite option as well. Maybe I remember this wrong.
