E.A. on, but HDR turned off in .cfg! (v5.3 HF1 LF)

Featured Replies

I always wanted to use E.A., but never knew that I could turn off HDR (too dark cockpit, etc) in the .cfg file but still enjoy E.A.

But since finding that out on the forum..and turning it off (in the .cfg), I have great cockpit rendering (illumination) with still using E.A. for all its benefits...

This is flying out of Palm Beach south towards Key West (eventually), at 3,500 ASL, over Orbx T.E. Florida with all the graphic sliders to the right.

I have tried it but found the ground colour too blue. Just like when you took a photo with a film camera and no UV filter.

Back on EA=Off for me.

@SesquashtooI'm also EA on and HDR off.  I am still going back and forth between volumetric louds off (Skyforce clouds) and vol clouds on.

I found that this has really worked for me...  I DO like HDR, but too bad, that the interiors and cockpits are almost non usable... but hey, grateful  that you can choose...HDR on or off via the .cfg file.

for me hdr looks very weird despite having a display that supports it

For weeks have tried different configurations and finally - HDR off, EA off and adjusted sim environment to my liking with Reshade and Envshade. Another advantage - my system is less loaded and less prone for VRAM issues.

It's so great to read that it seems everybody, or almost everybody is having a blast with v5.3 HF1 LF....and a month ago, you could shoot a canon off in this forum...now...you can't even walk a straight line, for the shoulder to shoulder forum activity now, since its release.  So glad to see it...   If anybody thought that P3D was dying out....well,  they haven't much visited this forum of late....

I have not tried, but read that cfg HDR entry will go back to default ( ON ), after u go to P3D menu, if so then have to modify cfg for every sim session

Not has been my experience...I go to VIEWS...such as that...and it still is OFF in the selection.

If you enjoy it and it becomes fun, it is a game. So make sure you do not have fun when you use P3D.

Cheers!

Well, all I can say for my setup..is I set it to '0'...and call down the to menu...and HDR stays off between sessions.  So,...no turning back on for me.   Now..I don't turn E.A. off and on...and that is what he might be doing.  I can call down anything else on the menu and HDR stays at 0 in the config, but if you do turn it on and off (E.A.) via the menu...that, I can't comment about. I want it off, (HDR) and E.A. on...so, I don't come possibly across that.
