Airplane Heaven Grumman F3-F out now on Simmarket

Featured Replies

It uses an RMI to point the needle corresponding to the freq you dialed on the radios. Primitive navigation, not historically correct of course, but it looks old and takes work to know where you are. AvAngel seemed unaware of where the RMI is and did not use the NAV radio.

These warbirds were aboard Lexington, Enterprise, etc. during the late 1930's. The Brightly Shining Barrels! Really, these look cool compared to the square box which replaced it (the ugly Brewster Buffalo).

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

She NEVER reads the manual 🙂 But thats the kind of testing she does, and people like it, so that doesnt matter.

Haha... I like her vids, too exactly cause of that reason... Even if you literally scream out "the mags... you forgot the mags" while watching 😂

For the plane itself I will pass. Imho AH is asking for quite a steep price for nearly no system depth as usual and a plane that would not see a lot of flying for me. But thats as usual very subjective. Others will like it exactly cause of this.

Cheers T.

  I love AvAngel, but it is a little bit unsympathetic for her viewers when she stumbles around looking for things like this.
I have a limited window for watching YouTube videos in the evening, and I don't want to waste half of it watching her hunting around for a switch or a button.
I can do that on my own!

Here style is fine in general, as we are not all 'deep systems' simmers, but I wish she would do at least one quick dummy run beforehand just for the sake of her viewers.
I was going to leave a comment on her channel, but I don't want to upset her or get jumped on by the disciples!

It really wouldn't go against her if she said that she just read the manual a little or had a quick dummy run.
She could then spend more time flying or doing proper demonstrations of the features.
I suppose the way she stumbles around is funny at least, and she doesn't take herself too seriously!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I actually like that (her not being able to find something).  When I watch her vids that's what I /expect/.

I have two ways of flying.  1) seriously, which is my preferred ops, and 2) not seriously.  #2 is when I just got home from work and don't have the brain cells left for anything that deep.  I just want to blast through the Mach Loop and I don't care how accurately I follow procedures.  AvAngel scratches that itch for me, and I would not even think of criticizing her style.  It's very human, unlike the antiseptic reviewers we mostly see.

Sure, I get it, and that is a valid point.  I just got frustrated waiting for the engine to start after so many tries, and the screen whizzing around while she tried to find what was wrong.
I turned it off before she found the mags.  I didn't know it was that; I presumed they were on.

I loved the (attempted) cartridge start though.  Is that the first time in the sim?  I have never seen it before.

I'd just skip ahead in the vid.  heh.

I own this aircraft in P3D, and I do not remember it having a cartridge start.  I haven't flown it in a couple of years though.  It may be a first.

Planes is now available on Just Flight, quite a lot cheaper than on Simmarket

yeah, I've gotten out of the habbit of buying stuff on JustFlight since MSFS - I often forget to check there first and have had a few buys now be more expensive than they needed to be.

Definitely recommend JF as a site to check out for purchases (and this is not a dig at SimMarket - I buy a lot of stuff there (including this Grumman!) and am very happy with them).

Oh, and I like the Grumman. Gonna have fun with this.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
