May 7, 200719 yr So that line should look like this?module_config="server=httpkh.google.com|path=/httpkh?t=t%I want to try this application so bad but I'm affraid I'm not capable of configuring it without the help of a thread like this.Oh I also see where you need to run the two executables load filter and proxy user before launching FSX does it matter which one you run first? Thanks,Blaze RE Thomason Jr.
May 7, 200719 yr >Oh I also see where you need to run the two executables load>filter and proxy user before launching FSX does it matter>which one you run first?>If you go to StartAll ProgramsTileproxyYou'll see an entry for both. Click on that.
May 7, 200719 yr do you need to add the http: in front of the kh at the end of the lin where it says "path=/kh?t=t%"Thanks for your help!!! RE Thomason Jr.
May 7, 200719 yr Enter it exactly as written in my other reply but obviously not putting in the "....etc". :-)
May 7, 200719 yr Thanks Victor for being so patient and quick to reply this is what my .ini file looks like do you see any problems?[TileProxy]lod_distance=1000fast_mode=Nosource=Google Earth[Google Earth]cache_folder=cache.tilesnetwork_module=libnettilemodule_config="server=http://kh.google.com|path=/kh?t=t%s&n=404&v=17|quad=qrts|balance=0123|useragent=MSIE 6.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"max_lod=13min_level=9max_level=17color_hack=Nocolor_level=0bulk_extend=25 RE Thomason Jr.
May 7, 200719 yr As far as the load times-how long would it take to download a photoreal commercial package like megascenery over the internet-and after downloading it how long would it take to load into fsx?Since Tileproxy is essentially doing the same I doubt the load times could be reduced. But once it has cached the files-the loading is much quicker.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 7, 200719 yr Looks the same as mine except I have "cache.service" rather than "cache.tiles" and "min level=5" rather than "min level=9" but I don't think that should make any difference.Give what you've got a try and see what happens.
May 7, 200719 yr In fact you don't even have to run TileProxy anymore once the area is sufficiently cached. Only if you intend to explore new places, you have to actually run it in the background. At the FSS show in Forli I was able to demonstrate Rome, Naples, Grand Canyon, Swiss Alps and the city of Forli in rapid succession just by loading saved flights in already cached areas. It took less than a minute to switch locations. In fact I had to rely on the cache because the Internet line was down during all of Sunday.I tend to believe that pre-loading a saved flight plan is the way to go for the future. This experience has just bumped that work item on the priority list. ;)Christian
May 7, 200719 yr Yes-I have been around to all the places I like to visit and loading into the cache. I bet the reception at the show was great!http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
May 7, 200719 yr First of all Many thanks Christian for this groundbreaking piece of software, stunning!!.Over the last few days using tileproxy with VE I have been slewing methodically across Scotland at 30kts, so far I have got most of central Scotland in all its 1M glory. My cache. service1 folder contains 1.30 GB of data so I was able to fly around this area without tileproxy loaded and FSX just got the textures from the Cache folder.I then changed theProxy.cfg to try Google, found the the results were better with VE so changed the proxyuser.cfg back to my origonal settings started FSX and tile proxy starts to download data for the Area mentioned above, It seems to not see the 1gig+ data I have already gathered for this area. Will I have to start all over again? Many thaks for any helpCheersJohn
May 7, 200719 yr Methodically slewing all over scotland for getting 1m coverage? Wow, that's dedication.I am not sure how you named your cache folders, but you want to go look for the cache.something folders inside C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator XTileProxyThese folders contain a cache of the JPEG files from the online service. Make sure your active service in the proxyUser.INI file points to an _existing_ cache folder (that for VE preferrably which has lots of JPEG tiles inside). Check if you have such a folder containing a LOT of JPEGs. The active service is the one named by the "source=" statement. There is another "cache": Your World folder inside your Flight Simulator X directory contains all the .BMP (Bitmap) ground tiles which will eventually use a tremendous amount of space on disk (much more than the corresponding JPEG tiles as the level compression is lower). These BMP ground tiles will be used by FSX if they are already present for your preferred flying area. Otherwise TileProxy falls back to regenerating them from the JPEGs. And if that fails, new JPEGs must be downloaded. The cleanup.bat script inside the World folder can be used to clean the World folder if it grew too big. Then the JPEGs from the cache.something folders will be used to re-populate the World folder with content (without requiring much online access of you are lucky).
May 7, 200719 yr Hey guys, just read a bit more thoroughly the ini file Christian delivered. There has to be a * after the http://kh !!! It should speed up loading the tiles as the * means several G??gle Earth servers will deliver instead only one (anyone correct me if i'm wrong). So make it module_config="server=http://kh*.google.com|path=/kh?t=t%s&n=404&v=17|quad=qrts|balance=0123|useragent=Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 6.0; SLCC1; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)"Cheers
May 7, 200719 yr the min_level statement affects only the ground tiles very far from the aircraft (e.g. when setting the level of detail radius to large in the FSX graphics settings)Some map services switch to an entirely different view/image of the globe, once you zoom out too far. The outcome is that from a certain distance from the aircraft onwards, the landscape will abruptly have an entirely different appearance or color to it. Therefore I had to limit the minimum zoom level to retain a consistent looking landscape near the horizon.
May 7, 200719 yr I have the * on mine. Still can take 1/2 hour for some areas-I am on high speed cable.http://mywebpages.comcast.net/geofa/pages/rxp-pilot.jpg Geofa WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!
