FBW A32NX: How to delete SimBrief connection and settings?

Featured Replies

EDIT Topic title changed to make my question more clear.

Because of a little problem (stutter) I wanted to completely remove the FBW A320 and reinstall it from scratch. So I deleted all folders in the Community folder, removed all FBW related stuff the official way in Windows, redownloaded the installer, installed and reinstalled the Airbus. To my utter amazement I noticed most settings were still as they were in the FlyPad... including my SimBrief number...! I did have to recalibrate my joystick but most other settings were retained! I specially wanted to delete the SimBrief connection but apparently all I did was in vain... 😖

So... how do I COMPLETELY remove the FBW Airbus???!!!

BTW I already noticed something odd at the first start of the installer because it couldn't find a certain path. Maybe some settings are saved elsewhere? Or in the registry?

BTW 2 I did follow the instruction from here: https://docs.flybywiresim.com/fbw-a32nx/installation/#troubleshooting and even removed the Work folder to get a clean start...

Geez... I found out there are a few more FBW folders scattered on my PC... I deleted them all, I deleted every entry related to the FWB from the registry, I even deleted each and every Navigraph entry, reinstalled the FBW... and STILL it starts up with my SimBrief account and all the settings...!!!

HOW THE HECK can I remove/delete/disable EVERY trace of this Airbus so I can start with a 100% brand new install??? 😡 How do I DELETE the SimBrief connection???!!!

Those instructions are lacking a lot of steps and folders. But even deleting absolutely EVERYTHING (see my second post) doesn't help.

Maybe first read the posts in a topic before replying to just the topic title alone? 😉 Thanks for the effort anyway. 😉

Sounds like a visit to the official FBW Discord might be needed ...

This is why I don't use the FBW installer and I just download the latest version from their website, unzip it, and copy it to the Community folder myself.

Right, but they want my phone number over there and I don't like sharing it for various reasons... which is why I am asking here. Hopefully one of the devs may visit this topic. My MAIN question at this moment is: how can I delete the FBW - SimBrief connection?

Maybe someone who does have an working account in Discord could ask this for me? TIA! 😉

EDIT
Changed the topic title to prevent obvious replies. 😉

Too late for that now: I think that even when I do that I will end up with my old settings AND the SimBrief account.

EDIT
Gave it a try nonetheless: deleted every trace of FBW (also in the registry) again, put the manually downloaded FWB in the Community folder: still my old settings and SimBrief account are there... Crazy...

if you are using Steam,I think you will need to delete the FBW folder in %AppData%\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\ . If not mistaken, all the configs are there.

Thanks, but I did that. I completely removed the airplane, it's entirely gone, I even deleted the undocumented FBW folders from within the MSFS folder and all registry entries... and STILL all my data is somehow being saved and used the next time I install the FBW A32NX. It seems impossible to get rid of it. Where the heck is that information stored! Seems that FBW is digging deep into the system somehow...?

I am not sure. Your best bet would be their Discord as others mentioned or here: https://github.com/flybywiresim/a32nx/discussions

Wow. I've got an reply on Github! Unfortunately it's not an answer: apparently FBW has no clue where the settings are saved...!!! It's MSFS that saves those settings: FBW doesn't have control over that 'thanks' to the SDK. Odd...! But okay, well, so now I have to dig into the MSFS files to see where the FBW settings are stored...

Maybe someone here knows more about this already? Is there a specific folder in which MSFS saves settings for specific airplanes?

I believe the info is stored in the 'cloud' servers, similar to the controller profiles.

John

I believe johnh1984 is correct.  I formatted my computer and then installed FS2020 in December and do not recall having to re-enter my simbrief ID into the pad.  I think it was already populated.  So the guess is that it is attached to the cloud server and maybe your xbox profile or something.  I tried to do some searching of the profile but could not find it.
