I have not reinstalled in a very long time and I don't look forward to it. That is the latest MSFS version, same one I have, and TrackIR works fine. Maybe it would be worth uninstalling and reinstalling TrackIR. Just backup your TrackIR profiles first. Might also be worth checking if TrackIR has any game updates. Al
January 17, 20224 yr Author Well, I have reinstalled MSFS and reinstalled TrackIR. No change from before. when I pause TrackIR the view jumps back to the default cockpit view (straight ahead). A curious thing I have noticed is in the controller options section, when I pause TrackIR or the ir siginal to the TrackIR camera is blocked, the TrackIR device disappears all together from the options menu until I unpause (F9) or the signal is restored. January 17, 20224 yr As a test - would you mind going into TIR, and replace the existing (F9) button with one from the yoke - say a red Press-to-Talk button - something like that? i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
January 17, 20224 yr Author I have assigned TIR pause to 3 different buttons on 3 different controllers with the same result. I have also cleared all assignment conflicts. January 17, 20224 yr Hmmph.. Beaten again! Time for someone smarter - or for you to talk with Zendesk, I'm afraid, Rem. You still have the bug that (I think) Bert Pieke reported and suggested a fix for - which is here below:- Try this. "TIR Workaround for now until Asobo fixes what they broke is to go into controls and set a key for " Toggle Head Tracking" - then when Track IR shuts off, you can turn it back on without having to go into the camera menu. The way it is now is if the Track IR loses signal, because you turn your head to far, walk away from PC , or hit F9 to make the image freeze, MSFS shuts Track IR down. " The 'shutting down' is what yours is doing. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

As an aside, how do you assign a button to the TrackIR Pause or Center function? I only see the option to assign a key. Do you have to have the button send a keystroke, which I know you can do in FSUIPC? Thx, Al

" The 'shutting down' is what yours is doing. Not removing that mod, after the recent update, has caused problems with Track IR. There is some conflict that this person is having causing the Track IR to get a Center command when he gives it a hold command. My guess it is some conflicting control assignment in MSFS that he has missed, and has nothing to do with Track IR. Try goinginto tghe Track IR menu, and where it says hotkeys, Center, Uncheck enable, toggle, and trap. Under Center all you should see is F12. Now go to pause, what do you see there? January 17, 20224 yr Crossed posts, Bob, but thank you! That was my initial thought - a conflicting control assignment - but Remilton says he has assigned three different keys - but the result is always the same.@ark It's the one inside TIR, Ark - which you probably do already: MS doesn't have a key for it, but it knows about the Yoke's keys - and if it has already got one (in this case - F9) - then a conflict exists, innasmuch as (I think) MSFS sees it as if TIR has gone - disappeared, and so it just center's the viewpoint. TIR only shuts off the signal.https://1drv.ms/u/s!AueVg7eVAeXMlTyFVITysy15_V71?e=sM70pz In the pic above - when the pause key is set in TIR, it asks for you to press the key you wish to assign: and assigns it. In choosing the yoke's "Joystick2: button - which MS sees as "D" (I think) - then there are probably no other buttons that are the same as Joystick2. I didn't have this issue until SU5, I guess, and I've seen it brought up in forums all over the place. My issue here, is remembering the process I used in fixing it. - being 77 one's memory gets shorter day by day. . . .(sigh) Edited January 17, 20224 yr by Paul J i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

January 17, 20224 yr Yes - and any momentary-contact switch on any controller will do . There's a small company down in Florida, called Desktop Aviator, and he's been producing small encoder pcb's that can be used for almost any control - or even replace any "professional" control that might be broken. Slider potentiometers: switches, pushbuttons: panels.. not expensive - kinda a 'handyman's heaven' operation. http://www.desktopaviator.com/ i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

January 17, 20224 yr 42 minutes ago, ark said: when I pause TrackIR the view jumps back to the default cockpit view (straight ahead). I wonder if there could be some camera setting that is on Auto that is overriding the TrackIR Pause? If you push the TrackIR Center button while looking off to the side, then when you do look straight ahead the view of course will not be straight ahead because of how you centered things. Now, when you look somewhere and Pause TrackIR and it immediately unPauses, does it give you back that "off center" view you set up, or a straight ahead view? The idea here is to try and determine if it is TrackIR or some MSFS camera setting that is overriding the Pause, or maybe TrackIR has been restarted with a straight ahead view. Since you have tried different Pause buttons, I keep coming back to that AutoTrackIR fix which once running did not depend on a key or button. And when TrackIR is working correctly, if you look off to the side and Pause it, and then unPause it without moving your head, the view does not snap back to the center but stays where you are looking. So in your case it seems like maybe something has restarted TrackIR in response to the Pause. When the sim is running, it might be worth opening the Task Manager and looking through the lists of Processes and Background Process, etc for AutoTrackIR (although even if running I don't know if it would show up there). Just a shot-in-the-dark thought. Al Edited January 17, 20224 yr by ark
January 17, 20224 yr Moderator Don't forget that the TIR profile itself can save the Pause and Center assignments. I'd look in the profile to see what is mapped there. The issue was fixed in the release version so it must be some conflicting assignment or mod. RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
