Preliminary Test

On my HT-enabled single CPU system SP1 performance is poor. Using a standard test - Baron 58, 22% traffic, sliders set to medium settings, no Autogen, daytime flight from KJFK - FPS from 5.1 to 7.7. My system:Intel 955HBK Extreme motherboardIntel 3.8Ghz CPU4Gb Corsair RAMNVidia 7800GTX graphics cardTwo 250Gb HDD RAID 1 configLiquid cooledAmong the things that were fixed - AI night lighting and the "alias" path in the texture.cfg file. AI aircraft now have the logo and interior lights during night flights. This is great news.I guess I'll have to break my piggy bank and get a dual-core machine. Performance with dual-core is outstanding - some people reporting 50 to 80FPS.Happy flyingfb

I'm seeing pretty much a 50% improvement. Minimum 25% in some places and as much as 50% in others. I went from 20fps over nyc before to a solid 30fps now. The sim loads like 3x faster as well. Amazing stuff from what i can briefly see so far.________________________________________________________________________________________________Intel D975XBX2 'Bad Axe 2' | Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.20Ghz | 2 GB Super Talent DDR2 800 | Big Typhoon VX | eVGA 8800GTS @ 565/900 | Seagate 2x320GB SATA RAID-0 | OCZ GameXStream 700W | Creative X-Fi | Silverstone TJ-09BW | Matrox Triplehead Setup

Hi All:)Installed SP1 no problems.I had concerns reference 3rd party content when I saw the download required for VS-2005.That apparently has no bearing on my FSX program.Using Payware FSD Piper Seneca installed with no problems.I am getting better FPS then what I had prior to this SP. I have also moved sliders more to the right including Auto Gen and still getting respectfull FPS.When changing from Windowed screen to Full Screen found that If I was sitting in the 2D cockpit that when looking out the front windshield it was black and when I went to full screen and the the props were a black blotchy when looking at it from the spot view.I then went back to windowed screen and went to the outside spot view and then back to the Full Screen, and works as advertised no problems.I did this four or five time to make sure I got the same result, which I did.Getting past midnight here in Ontario Canada have to get to bed but so far the Sp1 appears to be a success.Duo Core E6400 Vista Ultimate, Nvida 7950 Video Card.Happy Simming.Kenny G.

Performance with dual-core is outstanding - some>people reporting 50 to 80FPS.With those scenery settings, I would have pulled probably 45-50 before SP1. I used to have a screenshot of my FPS counter at 180 somewhere out over the Atlantic with nothing in sight other than ocean. Probably was a fluke, but it was actually a little funny.I have an E6600, 2gb ram, and a 7600GS. I think the only stuff I have not maxed out is the water is Low 2.x with no bloom, ground shadows off, no aircraft casting shadows on itself, and road traffic at 85%. Frame rate limiter set to unlimited because I've always been curious at the variation I could get so I wanted to see what the max i could ever push. My shift-z settings include that "low, average, high" set and sometimes that high would be in the 50s in places like Pensacola or Colorado Springs (I think it was hallucinating). At first, my default flight (KUNV, State College, Pennsylvania) wasn't much of an improvement. Fairly standard 20-30 fps, with low 20s being more common. Was a little disappointed. Then I took it down to my testbed for when I'm tweaking: Reagan National.I use Reagan to gauge the impact of a tweak because DC brings my system to its knees. I mean like single digit frame rates all the time. If I was in the cockpit/flight deck/whatever, and angled the view right (more panel than window), I could get 12, which was often just enough to struggle into the air and get away from DC proper. So I select my trusty CRJ-700 set the winds so I have runway 1 (so that the monuments are right in front of me). In the external view, it was holding at 23 fps. I was blown away. Took off, flew out to the north, zigzagging my way up the Potomac. The frame rate thing said 17 most of the time, but honestly it felt more like 30. Felt a lot smoother than the FPS counter wanted me to believe. Clearly I require more testing, but I was satisfied with my performance out of Reagan. Now if I could figure out where my tools menu with the object placer and traffic toolbox went!EDIT: Wow, windowed at KUNV is averaging 44. Too bad I hate flying in windowed mode!

Take you FS9 copy, it's the best version seen ever, and I am for sure there will be very LONG life for that. Im spend a lot of $$$ with a Quad for FSX with two XFX 8800... and actually Im getting really unflyable fps With FS9 the performances with the same PC is AWESOME. You can see..

Tomas,Could you please try fully uninstalling and reinstalling FSX clean, running it, and then installing SP1 before you start slagging it in every single thread? Something is obviously wrong with your install somehow.

Ryan, Im NOT going starting with unlimited uninstalls-reinstalls and much more losting time things, I am going to give for FS9 flight times. I remember you FSX copy needs to be activated via telephone if you exceed installations. :-lol

Do you want help or are you just complaining?

And the best! Im still noticed FSX it's better without installed SP 1.0

Every post is the same thing...pretty obvious he has an agenda and needs to be quite since it's complaint time at his house.

Yes Ron, afortunatelly I have much of free time... I have nothing to do.

Bill, you clearly fail to realize that everybody who's getting GOOD performance is wrong, and this guy is right. ;) It's really sad that someone with a killer rig like that won't take a few minutes to ask for advice around here, and very likely get amazing performance without the need for "unlimited uninstalls-reinstalls," etc. He's really missing out on what FSX has to offer.
