Many times I've discovered tips/fixes/procedures posted by Nick C. in the forum.

Those still appear to be visible. I was looking for the square terrain effect fix after a P3D update. It’s still there.

It looks like they've been flooded by posts regarding their products, but that's really a bad move and I'm very glad to have this information.

Get used to it other third party addon makers have gone the same way some time ago, Just Flight will tell you to put a support ticket in if you have and problem or issue in the product forums, I think this is a way of hiding issues. And shutting down threads as soon as possible.

Instead of getting busy fixing their products and accepting that something might require fixing the easiest way is to keep on hiding problems, blocking valid complaints, or getting in a contest with customers pointing out issues related to certain products. Unfortunately, many of us keep on buying and are afraid to speak up. We are at fault for entertaining this behavior.

I agree with what most of you have said. I think it is a step back...and since they have largely stopped support P3D, it hardly makes a difference...they are running a business, not a hobby...and are doing what they feel is best for them..what the community thinks does not seem to matter.

They do seem to moving further away from their original concept many years ago...

Since John handed over the reigns I feel it has become far more commercialised.

I guess that it is a long time since you visited the Orbx forums.

A short memory is a blessing, my friend 😄

The support at Orbx has always been rather good on an average (there are ups and downs as everywhere) but also sometimes a bit rough around the edge.

"far more commercialised" ? John V has always handled Orbx as a commercial company. And said so. He left  when there was a major shift in the market making a lot of Orbx catalogue obsolete and the new CEO faces a market situation that is  not easy to handle.

It was about 2 years ago and customer service at that time was quite arrogant and in defense mode. Even they make good products, for me, it was/is a stopper.

If my declining memory is serving me correctly (and it has been failing me more often these days) didn't the ORBX support forum used to be on Avsim? Then ORBX started their own so they would have more control. Even if my memory is not correct, sounds like it is time to start up an unofficial ORBX support forum here on Avsim so issues can be discussed.

The history between Orbx and Avsim has been - how to say it ? - complicated 😂 . It was an unofficial forum that John V was not very fond of (understatement).
