February 19, 20224 yr Hi. Has anybody tried Simaddon’s CYYJ (Victoria International Airport) or CYEG (Edmonton International Airport) for MSFS? I am referring to the sceneries at https://www.simaddons.com/pages/simaddons_addons_msfs.htm. It’s a little above average in price for MSFS sceneries. But as of the moment, there are no other well done 3rd party sceneries for CYYJ or CYEG. It’s Simaddons or nothing else (if there are alternative well done CYYJ or CYEG for MSFS, I’d like to know). Does anybody own either of these Simaddons sceneries? Otherwise, if you don’t own these specific Simaddon sceneries, are there people that own other Simaddon Canadian airport sceneries? How are the quality and performance of Simaddon sceneries for MSFS? i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
February 19, 20224 yr Well, I've flown in and out of CYYJ a good few time both on commercial flights and GA flights and although it looks detailed in the screen shots the textures look very cartoonie to me. Yeah, the textures and models could be better of course. Unfortunately, there is nothing else on the market at the moment for MSFS. I think Fsimstudio said they would do CYYJ on their Facebook page, but who knows when that will be done (FSimstudios made a comment last year in their Facebook page that CYEG was coming up for MSFS but it seems they have changed priorities and CYEG is no longer coming soon for MSFS). i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
February 19, 20224 yr Yeah, I'm kind of astonished that that there has never really been a decent CYYJ in any sim. There is freeware doing the rounds for FSX and P3D but I always thought it would be just a matter of time before ORBX did CYYJ since they've done literally everything else of significance in the neighbourhood. Anyway, I'll wait for something better because looking at that website it looks to me they are just churning out as much of possible to cash in. No problem, It's a free world but I wasn't born yesterday. 🙂 Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.
February 19, 20224 yr Neither. Wait for FSimStudios version Ron Hamilton "95% is half the truth, but most of it is lies, but if you read half of what is written, you'll be okay." __ Honey Boo Boo's Mom
February 19, 20224 yr The sceneries themselves are pretty good, the ground polys look a bit on the dated side but they are very easy on frames and vastly better than default. Personally though, I'll wait for FSimstudios even if it's another year. Edited February 19, 20224 yr by Dave_YVR i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

My thought too, I'll happily buy Simaddons where they are the only option as they do some Canadian airports unlikely to get attention from other developers, but if I can choose between Simaddons now or FSimstudios later I'll choose the latter. February 19, 20224 yr I've had CYEG for some time and I find it well done. I just purchased CYYJ and it too I find well done. For me both are money well spent. I have been a long time customer of Ralph. Also his after sales support is excellent.

I'm asking because generally, I don't like running .exe files on my computer, if it can be avoided, and someone else said that the Simaddon sceneries come as an .exe file (I assume you extract the scenery from the .exe file). It's weird that it would come as an .exe file, but perhaps they do this to prevent piracy. i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

You get a large serial via mail which you have to copy/paste into the installer at a point. Personally I don't have a problem with this, as long as it comes from a trusted source. February 19, 20224 yr Author It's been a while since I have been to CYEG. Simaddons shows CYEG with blue windows for MSFS: Then I check the online pictures of CYEG in Google. And then I also check Fsimstudio's CYEG for P3D: They can't both be be right 🤣. The FSimstudio version of CYEG seems to have colors that match what I see in the Google images of CYEG, that is a more beige-brownish color. The Simaddons shows a very blue tinted version of CYEG. Was about to pull the trigger for Simaddons CYEG until I realized the colors just look so off. Did CYEG in real life renovate to blue windows or is it some type of mistake by Simaddons that CYEG is showing blue windows everywhere? i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
February 21, 20224 yr There's a dark tint to the windows but certainly not a purply blue like that. Hard pass. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
