Now try it in a Bhutan Air A320 😉

Since the NXi has brought RNP capabilities with just a couple of mouse clicks into the sim, I am not using the less sophisticated TBM anymore. Avionics wise the C172 and half of the other default aircraft beat the TBM now! The only thing missing is, that we've got very slow aircraft with the NXi but no real fast ones! The Turbo Bonanza seems to be the fastest NXi aircraft around. RNP procedures tend to be flown with larger and faster aircaft than a C172.

But, I have to say, spawning flights somewhere close to the IAF and then flying the RNP approach with the NXi is very fascinating!

Likewise using the Visual Approaches feature, which gives you sort of an instrument approach on basically any airport in the whole world. Doing the MSFS bush trips and activating the visual approach while enroute in the NXi brings you to the runway threshold of any destination in LNAV and VNAV mode! In a bare C172! I am really amazed about these capabilities!

@mrueedi You just received an A+ for paying attention to the RNAV (RNP) details I included in the video!

@Gazzareth Nice job from the opposite direction (RWY33)!

@SierraHotel Not there yet!

@SierraHotel Very nice! Silly ATC "you are not cleared to land". You looked cleared to me. It is quite a pitch and sink rate! You actually lined up a fair way out and stayed just above that last mountain ridge. Cool to see the landing from another simmer!

That was one heavy landing! You were also way too close to that hillside short of the runway threshold. Must try harder :wink:

@SierraHotel & @Christopher Low As Chris mentioned, you lined up farther back from the threshold and very close to the ground of the last ridge. Very decent and terrific for your second attempt! Would be great to see the final turn as in RL where the jets make a sharp S turn within 1-2 miles of the threshold and literally drop out of the sky to touchdown. I’ve watched the go arounds there also. One flight when around 3 times before being satisfied with aircraft placement and configuration.

@FilbertFlies It is time to impress us!

PS I posted my Paro video on another forum and the audience totally missed the point by assuming a touchdown somewhere on the runway redefines the landing/challenge as easy! There is a reason why it takes 8-10 years of training to advance to Captain for the Paro landing. These guys deal with different flight parameters every time (landing weight, density altitude, wind etc.) and pin the numbers with a visual approach. The descent to FL138 is pretty much autopilot, but after that it is all hands on deck!

Hi,

I am about to give a try at Paro from Kathmandu. Any advice regarding scenery for those 2 airports ? Paro is already handcrafted in the sim if I remember well? But there is a scenery on Flightsim.to. Do you use it ?

Thanks

Pierre

All default scenery for both airports! I don't think you will be disappointed. Let us know how it goes!

Thank you very much!

Regarding performance of the A320, O guess I will have to limit passengers number in order to match an A319 perf. What do you use as weight ?

I wonder what would be typical weight for the real Buthan Airline A319…
