How to get GA traffic when using AIG

Featured Replies

I downloaded the file from flightsim.to but there are 3 files. What should I do with the other 2?

Ignore them. You only want the "offline_ai_traffic_ga_fixed" folder and it's files placed in your community folder and the "layout.json" file from the mod's Official\OneStore\fs-base-ai-traffic folder placed into your msfs fs-base-ai-traffic folder (after backing up the msfs original one there).

Possibly WU for Iberia/Spain has updated/replaced this and it (GA Traffic Fix) needs to be re-installed?

Yes, updates usually replace the AI traffic layout.json file and it has to be re-installed.

Exactly. Any files modified in the official folder will always have to be checked and redone after a MSFS SU, WU or patch.

You can also just rename the base traffic file (which AIG itself gives you the option to do if start up AIM with it still with the original name), you don’t need to edit the layout file

As long as the name of the file doesn’t match what it says in layout, it won’t load

I thought that this could lead to CTDs? Modifying the .json file is for sure the safer way, as the engine then is not looking for something that does not exist...

This causes CTDs for me on medium to long flights. It's bad practice since MSFS reads the layout.json file and will eventually look for that file. Having AI traffic turned completely off may get around this but with the GA mod you have to have AI traffic turned to offline and msfs will then read the layout.json and look for files listed in it. Changing the layout.json was the only way for me to get rid of CTDs with adding the GA mod.

AIG should consider another way of disabling the default traffic (perhaps renaming the original layout.json and using a replacement one that removes airtraffic like the method described in this post ) instead of renaming a stock msfs file that msfs still searches for.

Hm I'll have to do some testing.

This is how I do mine. Make a copy of the file and add ".original" to it.

Then edit the layout.json file to remove the aircraft traffic section so it looks like this.

Anyone noticed that lots of GA aircraft are actually flying only at 200-800 feet with this mod, even on long routes?

What level are you flying at and how long have you been in flight when you noticed this? I haven't really noticed this behavior.

I think this is an Asobo issue and effect AIG too sometimes (spawning at wrong altitudes).

Here is a pic I took not long after discovering how to do this. You'll notice that GA planes are spread throughout 300ft to high flight levels.

Reading this thread made me curious: is there a way to separate the GA vs airliner static parked aircraft?

The slider in MSFS affects both. What I would like is to have parked GA at smaller airports yet no parked airlines at larger ones, and instead only rely on the offline AI traffic from Simple Traffic.

lately I am flying between 3000 and 10.000 feet myself in the Kodiak. It's especially funny when flying long stretches over ocean, seeing GA flying for hundreds of miles at 200-300 feet.
Most AIG traffic is flying at decent altitudes although sometimes I find that a number of jets around me are sticking to my own flightlevel.
