How to get GA traffic when using AIG

Featured Replies

Having a great time with the AIG+GA combo. Been flying around SoCal today and there's so much activity on the frequency! Got AI offline set to 100% so plenty of GA aircraft everywhere. I've set ground aircraft to 20%, so there's always some activity at smaller airfields.

Just flew west of KLAX in the DA62 going from Catalina to Santa Barbara and could see (and hear) many airliners around. I was cruising at 6000ft and flew right over a Spirit on approach - no problem seeing the livery.

Just after I landed at Santa Barbara a TBM took off. Quite excilarating to have this much activity. Got AIG traffic manager set to 70%.

Cpt,

Is the traffic file in MSFS disabled? I always say NO when I get asked by the AIG Manager.

Nope. I do the same - always say no. I think disabling it can cause issues - @Phantoms mentioned this either on AVSIM or on MSFS forums.

Anyway, I might have spoken too soon in terms of the exhilarating experience of having lots of GA. This is what I got when starting up at Santa Barbara in the TBM:

Using AIG with offline flight plans and the GA mod with offline fight plans, you don't need any static aircraft on the ground.

I recall that I may have accepted the option to disable the traffic file, although AIG appears to be working perfectly. How can I confirm this and if so, reactivate it?

I guess that disabling "default traffic file" will disable the trick to have small GA only traffic via modifying the .json. Then, you'll stay only with (liners) traffic injected by "AIG Traffic Controller".

reading this with interest but just wondering how it will work..................

currently running AIG and if I set one of the traffic settings in MSFS to online - think I was already getting some GA traffic at the airports (trouble is I also seemed to get some of the stock ASOBO airliners/livery)....assume this mod will only give me AIG airliners and the ASOBO GA aircraft?

Do a search on the drive that MSFS is installed for trafficAircraft.bgl

Mine is here:

D:\MSFS 2020\Official\OneStore\fs-base-ai-traffic\scenery\world\traffic

You should have the following:

trafficAircraft.bgl

trafficBoats.bgl

Go to this folder: \Official\OneStore\fs-base-ai-traffic\scenery\world\traffic

Look for trafficAircraft.bgl. Does it have an aigoff extension at the end (i.e. trafficAircraft.bgl.aigoff)? You might need to change the folder settings for this. To do this, click the "..." at the top right of the Explorer window, then Options=>View. Make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is not ticked.

If the .aigoff extension is there at the end, rename the file, remove the extension and choose "yes" when the warning message about the file might become unusable appears.

The idea with this is that AIG traffic controller injects the airliners and you adjust the amount of airliner traffic with the AIG TC slider.

The GA traffic is controlled by Asobo using AI offline and the amount is regulated by the AI offline slider.

I tried this when it first came out and never had it working properly. I want to tray again from scratch - is there a step-by-step guide somewhere?

1. Download the GA mod here: https://flightsim.to/file/6787/offline-ai-traffic-stock-traffic-bgl-fix

2. In the ZIP there's two folders - community and official. Copy these to your MSFS folder. Say yes to overwrite default layout.json.

3. Go to MSFS community folder and delete offline_ai_traffic_airliner_fixed. It's not needed.

4. In MSFS settings make sure AI offline is set to on. Change the slider depending on how much GA traffic you want.

5. Startup AIG traffic controller the usual way, then inject traffic. Change slider depending on how much airliner traffic you want.

Hello,

Thank you for the detailed explanations, however if I'm starting the normal way AIG Traffic Controller is opened and automatically is injecting traffic, don't have that slider. If I'm not mistaken the slider is inside the AIG Manager?

Thank you again!

The slider in traffic controller controls the amount of airliner traffic. AIG manager on the hand does not inject or control any traffic - it's purpose is to download liveries and flight plans.

Thank you. Possible to mix the things up 🙂 ....for the moment the AIG Manager is downloading the latest updates. After that I will give it a try.

Thank you again!
