Micro stutters when turning

Featured Replies

Hi all need some advice in removing small micro stutters that happens when turning the aircraft on the ground. My specs are on the bottom and I have my frames caped at 30. I have watches so many videos on this I'm overwhelmed.

Photogrammetry city nearby?

Could you confirm how you have capped at 30fps?

Turn down some settings, e.g. LOD and render scaling?

Checking in San Diego so yes for Photogrammetry. I have my sim capped at 30 and also in Nvidia control panel I have it capped at 30 also.

What you describe is typical for photogrammetry cities; there's nothing you can do AFAIK. They are extremely heavy on ressources, also because they have a different LOD than the usual terrain LOD (buildings are drawn much further out when they are PG, in comparison to normal autogen buildings). Therefore turning down LOD will only partly help.
You could tune down every other setting to gain some room for the inevitable drop, but why would you do that...

Do you have Direct X 12 enabled? I had that enabled when I first installed MSFS, because I thought it would go well with my new build, but I got stuttering whenever I panned or turned hard. Turned DX12 off and it must've doubled my FPS and removed all stuttering. The difference in smoothness and stability is absolutely insane.

Worked for me. Might work for you.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

The smoothest fps limiter out of those available (rivertuner/NVCP limiter) for me has been to set VSYNC on in MSFS plus the fps set to 20 - that gives me 33.3fps as my monitor is set to 100Hz.  Both Rivertuner and NVCP fps limiter gave me various issues like stutters or the screen going black. As all our systems are so different, the smoothest settings for you may be different.

I also have photogrammetry off.  Doing so has several advantages.

1.  Less stutters in photogrammetry areas.
2.  The fps saved with photogrammetry off lets me set RenderScale to 120 and LOD to 400, making autogen visible way out.
3.  Photogrammetry buildings reflect less light, so autogen buildings look better in the distance to me.
4.  Autogen buildings do not morph several times on approach.
4.  Photogrammetry can look awful at lower altitudes and plain horrid at ground level.

Plus one for this.  DX12 introduces stutters on my system.

By turning photogrammetry off you can gain fps headroom to INCREASE other settings.  In my case, by turning off photogrammetry, I can set RenderScale to 120 for better textures AND set LOD to 400 to see autogen way out in the distance.  Photogrammetry can look good, but imho, the sim can be smoother and look better with it off.

I'm on DX11, I'll see what Photogrammetry off does on my system even though I do like it on and makes the sim look better at least for me. . I also on the latest Nvidia drivers.

Asus Tuf Gaming Plus B550 - Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Asus GeForce 4080 RTX OC Edition - 64GB DDR4 (3600Mhz) - EVGA 850W Power Supply - 2X 1 TB NVME PCIE gen 4 - Windows 11 (25H2)

This is interesting. What if you use manual cache on your most favorite photogammetry cities but still turned photogammetry off in the settings?

Would this improve performance but still have the better looking buildings?

Why do you have it capped on both Nvidia panel and in game? the in game caps are related to your monitors refresh rate, 60 locks at your monitors refresh rate, 30 at half and 20 a third of your monitors refresh rate.

I have it running smooth no. In Nvidia CP I had to choose my video card on one of the options instead of leaving it on auto

I have the same problem... I may assume that the performance with SU got worse... I had issues when turning and looking around (using TrackIR) mostly in heavy airports especially EDDF.  While airborn, small airports everything was ok. On ultra everything was smooth. But now everything got worse. My specs: Intel i7-117000K, ASUS Z590P, RTX3070, 32GB

I think that with such spec should be working well, but it's not...
