I can't really tell what those are, I don't think they've been published. They COULD be just the same as those for the RTM version for all I know.
June 18, 200718 yr Returning to this old thread, I am wondering what is the parameter that decides which of the AutogenDescriptions.spb files are used, and when?I was guessing that the three filesAutogenDescriptions.spbAutogenDescriptions_Mid.spband AutogenDescriptions_Min.spb in the Autogen folder in fact represent a batch file composite, where you don't select the AutogenDescription file in use, it is defined by something at first install (Perfbucket perhaps?) that selects the file, renames it to AutogenDescriptions.spb, and uses that high, middle or lower spec setting independently of other settings thereafter. But now after thinking some more on the screenshots above I'm not sure whether in fact these three files might actually all be in use, varied according to scenery slider setting? ASo as the slider moves to the right, first the _Min file is used, then at Nomrmal or Dense things ramp up to _Mid, leaving the full one for the highest settings?Anyone tried reading these files? Allcott

Autogen sliders full right, then compare using the default files, just the _Min, just the _Mid, and then just the normal (full?) autogen file to see what the differences are...Paul
June 18, 200718 yr >>Anyone tried reading these files? >>Isn't there a SimProp Binary file reader here somewhere?I thought I remember someone talking about one...Wait a minute. I remember now. It was a Spb to xml converter. I think it's in the file library.Perhaps that would enable us (someone with more time than me at present) to see what is going on...RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
June 18, 200718 yr Could anyone send me a copy of the SP1 version of 'autogendescriptions.spb'?My backup of this file is pre SP1 :-eek Thanks!Glenn Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
June 18, 200718 yr >Isn't there a SimProp Binary file reader here somewhere?>>RhettYes, it is. If you own the deluxe version, just install the SDK, run ..SDKEnvironment KitAutogen SDKAutogenConfigEditor.exe and open the spb file.Regards
June 18, 200718 yr Just something I discovered by accident:FSX does not place the same autogen trees in the same place twice.I made some pre-SP1 comparison shots for another reason a while ago and the trees never were exactly the same after reloading the game at exactly the same spot.So maybe the issue mentioned by the OP does not have to do anything with SP1 at all.- Alex
June 18, 200718 yr SolarEagle I noticed that you don't have much if any blurries.Must be that eVGA 8800 GTX @ 630/2200MHz card. How is it, and what release of the nVidia drivers are you using?
June 18, 200718 yr >Something wrong there with the SP1 install, I think. It>doesn't reduce the autogen, slider-setting-to-slider-setting,>only the visibility distance. A bug was fixed where polygonal autogen annotation regions did not respond to the Augogen slider. This would result in a decrease in some areas if the user did not have the Autogen slider maxed.-Doug

There's no bluries in the screen shots becuase I loaded a saved game and took the screen shot while it was still paused. When I start flying the textures fall behind and do not catch to the level of crispness seen above unless I pause it again. As to the comment above about the random placement of autogen, yeah thats basically how it works, which is why I repeated several times to elimiate the possibility of autogen variance. Though the trees are never in the same spot on the ground, there is a consistent 30%+ reduction in autogen with SP1 on any given setting.
June 19, 200718 yr Thanks for the explanation, Doug! It's nice to know we aren't going crazy :-)Thomas[a href=http://www.flyingscool.com] http://www.flyingscool.com/images/Signature.jpg [/a]I like using VC's :-)N15802 KASH '73 Piper Cherokee Challenger 180 Tom Perry
