PMDG 737 pricing

Featured Replies

Its going to cost more in MSFS if you want all the variants of the 737 than in P3D. LOL Good Job PMDG. -800 for me only.

What a bunch of complainers about nothing.  The 800 will do little the 700 cannot do and as for the others, just why?  They are all about the same in the cockpit where I spend my time.  The idea that you need all four is just silly.  Notice that no airline has all four, as far as I know so why would a simmer?  Just my thoughts.

Not these days.  😉

Just wondering, it's the BBJ1 "700" which got the most range compared to BBJ2 "800" and BBJ3 "900"?

It's around 6000nm, right?

First time PMDG buyer. Only interested in the 700 (may pick up the 800 if enticed with a sale) . Intend to use it as one of the workhorses along with the FBW and Fenix. Pricing in my use case is ok as i never intended to own the 600 or 900 and the 800 is not going to be used daily so it can wait. But for the completionists out there i understand your pain.Randazzo did say though that the bundle deals will come though ... just next year..

In that case i would just recommend to  buy your favorite variant now  and run the clock out for the rest in a bundle deal

It's just odd that people think that a product that is the result of 2+ years of dev work is unreasonably priced at $69.  I mean in terms of entertainment, that's NOTHING.  A couple isn't going to dinner for that. A family isn't going to the movies for that. Many people spend more than that in a month for things like coffee.  Not to mention the folks who like having a few beers with friends.

But yeah... $69 for a product that's the result of 2+ years of work by an entire dev team... the horror.  😂

Basically what you just did is you figured out a way to justify the price by ignoring the entire point of why some folks don’t like the pricing structure. I bet most people who bought the base 800/900 package in P3D also then bought the 600/700 expansion packs. Don’t assume everyone shares your opinion about the need for additional variants. But think about what you just wrote. What about those of us who want to fly different airlines that fly different variants? In that case, your argument doesn’t work.

Just wondering, does each variant take 2+ years of development? Rhetorical question.

I would think not but I guess we'll see ;).

But does it matter? The idea of not requiring a base package is that people can just buy the variant they want, so... it makes sense that everyone should pay a minimal amount for whichever variant of this long-term project that they want, right?

You are oversimplifying what people are saying just a bit 😄

For a lot of us 70$, is more than fine, the Maddog is even higher, and I had no issue to buy it.

The main problem is the fact that if you want more variants, which are really similar to the base one, you need to pay the full price for each single one.

If Rob goal was to make it pleasant for us, he could have done a bundle, like 160$ for everything, something like a season pass you get the 700 first then the rest as they are released.

But it's not the case, so I will keep it simple with the 700, and spend more on other devs

As I stated earlier, it’s only a good deal if you want just one variant. At two variants, you already hit the P3D price (or close to it). At four you are well over $200.

I would want the 700 and the 800. Partially because of the size difference and partially because with those two variants you’d probably cover just about every relevant airline. I wouldn’t use the 600 or 900 much, but I like to fly many different airlines from all over the world.

Trying the new handling characteristic, landing on smaller or bigger airport, no getting bored by flying the same plane over and over, diferent fuel load, range, etc...

there are many reasons and that's why so many devs are doing it, for ex A2A with the P51, or justflight with the turbo / NA version of their GA plane, FSLab with the Airbus, Realair duke and I could go on

The reality is that none of the NGs fly all that different from the others; not differences that would translate to the sim anyway. As far as performance and range, there's nothing any other variant can do that the -700 can't.

Now if you WANT multiple variants, that's cool. I'll certainly grab the -700, and might grab the -900ER just for fun (or wait for the -Max9).  But that's just for fun.  In terms of functionality, it's not like you're being forced to pay for extra functionality.

This angst over a sub-$100 cost on what is a generally expensive hobby to begin with is just strange to me. In the end, if you deem it too expensive... just don't buy it. I like F4U Corsairs too, but I seem it to not be worth buying one (in reality) lol.
