Fenix failures reset?

Featured Replies

How on earth do you get rid of failures?  I spawned in at the gate and stuff just keeps failing and I can't figure out how to shut them off.  Random failures are NONE so I don't know why this is happening.  I've lost a fuel pump, CVR, and a few other things so far.

Haha, on my first ever flight I got a full failure of the ELEC 2 system.  Definitely not wanted on my first flight!  The failure settings are in the MCDU; but I checked they were turned off.  Unsure why I got the random ELEC failure, but we still made it down safely. 😎   I hope failures won't always be a random event that can't be avoided, as they're just not my bag.

I hear you! Goodness, took me ages to get the flight set up and after takeoff had a random AP1 fail! How to turn them off is the mystery eh!

If you spawned at the gate cold and dark and then turn the batteries you will get failure messages because the engines aren't running yet. Buttons may show FAIL and the screens may show fail messages. However, those aren't failures as in 'something is going terribly wrong! We are going to die!'. This is normal as long as you haven't started the engines yet. After setting up the plane and starting the engines all those messages should have disappeared. These messages simply show you some things haven't started up yet.

Method 1: Go to maintenance, select the category of failure, and call maintenance to come fix it.

Method 2: Load any panel state.

I haven't found a PMDG style "clear all failures" yet. But I also haven't RTFM. Just what I learned after 30 minutes of messing around

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

No this was my second load of the aircraft. Both times to a default state of running. Including engines

Tried that. All it did was load the new state with the failures still.  The only thing I did was go to the random failures and I was clicking on Trigger to see what it toggled to.  Maybe it actually inserted random failures.  This is why I wish their documentation wasn't a 13 page feature description with no actual info on using this stuff

I get home in 4 to 6 hours. I'll poke the devs in the discord and get back to you.

Quite hard to RTFM when there isn't really one! I deliberately created a random failure through the MCDU (it failed a fuel pump), then on stand cleared it the way you said through the Maintenance section of the MCDU. You have to tell them to diagnose and wait first, before you can instruct a repair.

So I checked with the discord, and Aamir was troubleshooting this with another customer. You should be able to turn off a failure just as easily as you can activate it, much like Aamir did during his feature videos a few months back. We may be looking at a bug, I think.

Hmm maybe because for instance I had a fuel pump fail and in the fuel submenu where it lists the pumps I could LSK a non-failed one and go into a submenu to set fail options.  The failed one, the LSK's did nothing.

Well, I think I figure out how I got into the mess last night.  It was clicking "Trigger" in the Random Failures menu.  I thought it was a toggle for some reason like toggling between "RANDOM" and something else.  Still, seems the only way to disable a failure like this is the maintenance thing, or exiting and restarting the flight also worked.

Also had 2 failures on taxi out, I've submitted a ticket.

Just saw this on discord: When you load at the gate, reselect your preferred panel state, and you should be able to toggle a failure off and on as would be expected. Should also clear up other issues too.

I won't be able to test for another week, but thought I'd pass this along.

Haha. Same here. Thought to be able to toggle to „mean time to failure“ option which I did not find so far and ended up with some IRS alignment failures. Except that I did not know how to repair that. Well, I did call maintenance for the Navigation Repair option but no help. Unless IRS is not under navigation but any other of the zillion repair options?
