$300 Hamburger (Trip to Elizabeth Field)

Recommended Posts

A somewhat short flight from Turners Falls 0B5 to Elizabeth Field 0B8 (with touch and goes at Goodspeed 42B and Chester Co KSNC).

Haven't taken the Mooney in a long time.  It's a very capable aircraft - mine is turbocharged for mountain flying - here in the flatland of the East Coast of the USA it's good for carrying more and operating in hot and humid weather.

2300 ft is the longest runway at 0B8 - I took RY 25 for the headwind today and it's quite short at 1800 ft.  A little tight for the Mooney but as long as you stay just above stall speed with the power in (till short final) it's easy to stop in time.  I had no issues today.

I didn't take any photos leaving Turners but it was a nice area with this large winding river and what appeared to be a quaint town.  I mostly followed the river down to 42B, performed a touch and go and headed west towards Chester, then departed and turned east towards Elizabeth.  You can see Block Island State (KBID) across the sound.  Beyond Block Island is Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket - there's plenty of freeware and payware here in the New England/Cape Cod area of the USA.

Please Enjoy!

I wasn't utilizing the TDS much today but it clearly shows Bradley off to my right here.  I topped the Class C cruising at 4500 ft.

I've got Latin VFR's version - it's decent

I'm going over the top for the left pattern to RY 32 at 42B

Short runway again, also has a water runway on the river

Still no match for the Mooney even on a touch and go - plenty of runway!

Went for a high downwind to allow for a long final over land, and got on the perfect speed for the 1800 ft runway

Yeah...sadly with today's fuel prices, its closer to a $300 hamburger. 🤔

@ryanbatc....what are you doing flying?  And a MOONEY to boot!   Get back in the paint booth!  We have NO time to fly. 🤬  The ONLY time you should be flying is to take a new paint up on a quick circuit to make sure its perfect before release.

I'll let this one slip...but I catch you flying for recreation again, I'm pulling your flightsim painters license!   Don't test me...I'll do it!
