The Vulcan Bomber is coming to MSFS...one day, not soon...

Wellesbourne Mountford airfield, south of Birmingham, in Warwickshire, not too far from me.

If you ever get to Norwich, go visit. They give brilliant tours in 3 planes, a Vulcan, a Nimrod, and an other one (which we didn't check out).

The guy giving the tour was an engineer who worked on both planes.

They are brilliantly preserved!

Will check out Flying Thestons scenery.

I attended a couple of air shows at  Gaydon back in the day. At one of them, definitely before Health & Safety took over, the crowd were allowed quite close when the static aircraft were taxied out at the end of the day, so one of my memories was the jet blast from a Victor as it turned and taxied away from us. I'm pretty sure there was at least one Vulcan there too. Sad to say I didn't attend any of the more recent shows while XH558 was still in action.

My first airshow was at RAF Gaydon 1961-62 when I was a 13 -14 year old schoolboy, the V bombers used to do the 4 minute scramble, a Vickers Valiant  V bombers nose wheel collapsed as it turned to take off right in front of me, it sat nose down engines screaming for what seemed like am age before they shut them down, I thought it was going to blow up, the noise was unbelievable. frightened me to death lol, fortunately no one was hurt and the airshow continued. The aircraft were displayed properly in those days, no health and safety nonsense.

If you want to hear a really loud Vulcan howl, turn the volume up and watch this video     (1) Vulcan XH558 AWESOME HOWL! Best Take Off Yet (19/0 - YouTube

Looking good, i hope the howl of those engines is going to be replicated, it will make all the difference to the immersion.

No howl in the video linked below, however:

Will the howl sounds be artificial or from previously recorded stock audio real sounds?

In the earlier release before 8th of November article, it now mentions the 'howl' sounds.  I thought initially they said they wouldn't be doing it - but all good.

Lots of nice liveries in there, and the EFB with camera system icons is a good idea as long as it can be hidden when required (says something about base of the ejector seat).

I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Where you getting that from Bob? I searched that page for the word howl but it gave 0 results.

Go to the article above the new 8th November one and click expand.  It's under 'sounds'.  It will also work on a search after you expand it.

aahh yes thanks the mobile version doesn't have the "expand" bit on it 🙂

I don't care how many new aircraft I've bought and never got round to flying, I'm definitely getting the Vulcan. And it's by Just Flight...need we say more ?

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

https://rationalwiki.org

I notice there is an air refuelling option on the flight pad as well.  Black Buck mission simulations here we come!

I got to sit in the pilot seat of XM655 at Wellesbourne for 20 minutes (an absolute privilege) while a pilot who took part in the raids explained the whole sequence and how many Victor tankers were involved.  If one aircraft went unserviceable it could have meant the Vulcan ditching in the south Atlantic with virtually no chance of the crew being recovered.  Scary.

OK.  No prob.  Do you have access to the non-mobile version at the moment?  If not, I will paste it...

Sounds

  • MSFS-native (Wwise) sound package taking full advantage of the new MSFS capabilities
  • Studio quality Olympus 301 howl engine sounds, recorded from the real aircraft
  • Hundreds of flight deck sound effects
  • Detailed physics-based effects on engine and wind noise
  • Accurately positioned 3D sound sources (best enjoyed in VR!)
  • Custom crash and scraping effects
