The Vulcan Bomber is coming to MSFS...one day, not soon...

My most certain MSFS purchase yet. Gawd, this simulator is accelerating to warp speed - we'll run out of aircraft before the ten years is up. 😉

Yes!  The sight of a Vulcan bomber from the front...bearing down on you...that's where it's at.   I'd even go for the Aeroplane Heaven Lancaster.  And a Short 330 or Miles Aerovan.

Also, JustFlight mentioning the Tomahawk (finally!) most certainly did not escape my notice.

and in the comments a bit about the "howl":
.. the sounds will be correct, but being a 301 series airframe it is more of a roar than a howl, the howl was a 200 series feature.

Well that is disappointing.  The howl is iconic.  Just look at the youtube videos.

If Dave Garwood can get similar audio effects on some of his freeware jets such as the Hawker Hunter at various throttle settings, can't they even try?

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

If you read the quote it's nothing to do with them not trying, it's to do with the actual airframe they're depicting. If they released a series 200 airframe then the Howl would be very prevalent.

Yes, there's going to be a wailing and gnashing of teeth over this. The howl was there in the P3D version, so they have it somewhere in their files. I can understand them going for a fresh sound set to go with the new model in the new sim. However, I think that the howl would not just be a forgivable inaccuracy - it would be an almost obligatory inaccuracy. I bet the letters of protest are already dropping on the door mat at JF Towers.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

Yes I understand that Marc, but...

"Our lead artist has been busy working on extensive upgrades to our iconic Avro Vulcan B Mk. 2, K.2 and MRR"

So they will modify the model to do those, like the tanker, which are fairly extensive model modifications, but no 200 series airframes in there then?  If so, that's a pity.  As XH558 (a 200) has been available for quite some time.
That is all I am saying, I am sure you get it, a 200 with the howl would be superb if they added it.

Yes, are willing to produce an absolutely unique aircraft, but choose not to model one of the features that makes it special.

Meanwhile, aircraft such as the A320 series in FSX got every type of airframe, from the A318 to the A321, with all  engine variants and the different distinctive sounds to go with them.

I am sure it is within the capability of the JF team to do this (as said above, it has been done before in P3D), thus my comment 'can't they even try?'.

The Vulcan experience will appear a little flat without the howl of the earlier versions.  As Paul says, I am sure they will receive the appropriate feedback.

It's not a feature of the plane they are modelling.

You can certainly ask why they choose to model that aircraft but that's the decision they've made and I'm guessing they have a good reason for that.

Go on the JustFlight forums and tell them, they ought to model a 200 series...for the howl.   It's worth a try, isn't it?  They do see their own forums and occasionally respond there.

I've always preferred the looks of the Handley Page Victor over the Vulcan, there was always something more sinister and metal slug about it's looks for me.

Well, I agree with the 'Lancaster' part.  I'm hoping that Flying Iron's four-engined aircraft will be the Lancaster.

Agreed!  It looks like a Gerry Anderson creation.  Another beautiful aircraft to my eyes - I loved them, but it seems that most people don't, probably because most wouldn't even recognise one.
I was lucky enough to see them fly from RAF Marham in the early eighties.  All converted to tankers by then.  Without these, the Vulcan's couldn't have completed the 6000 Nm Black Buck raids.
I think the only chance of seeing one of these in the sim will be a freeware development.

Amazing aircraft - I spent 30 minutes inside XM655, including sitting in the pilots seat, listening to a Vulcan pilot describe the Black Buck raids during the Falklands conflict - a complete privilege!

Was that at the Norwich aviation museum?

Wellesbourne Mountford airfield, south of Birmingham, in Warwickshire, not too far from me.  It used to do engine runs down the runway, but Stratford upon Avon council want to stop it, probably due to the noise.

Unfortunately, it overshot the runway recently when it didn't quite brake in time, due to a faulty airspeed indicator apparently that was reading lower than it should.
No major damage done, other than a traffic jam on the nearby road due to people stopping to take pictures, but obviously, this won't go down well with the local council either!

For those who are interested, this guy (Flying Theston) has done an excellent rendition of the airfield, including a great model of the Vulcan.

Definitely! I'm one of probably a small number of people (possiby "1") who really don't like the Vulcan. Never found it attractive, right from back in my airfix days. Don't know why, we just never got on. Love the Victor though, and would love to see one in MSFS. Probably never happen, the only one I ever got for any sim is a very basic one from FSX, and I think that might have been ported over from an earlier version.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used
