Reshade & MSFS

Featured Replies

I just tried installing this and copied the folder into my user profile folder as instructed.  Ran the batch file from the desktop and it automatically started MSFS which then came up with an error after about 30 seconds.  Just read more of the instructions and I did not right click the bat file and run as admin, not sure if this caused the strange error message.  Didnt appear to be a Windows or MSFS dialog box.  Will try again

Did you have any success when running as admin? There are several ways to get ReShade to work for MSFS. Got another guide already written if you get stuck 🙂

I did yes thanks.  Have the FinalLight profile running and also via a Reshade.exe was able to install all the old profiles like Lumasharp into another apps folder and then copy what fx files I wanted.  Have the sharpen working now too. Will be interesting to see if it affects stability of the sim.

There's actually an ongoing discussion about this over at the official forums. I had some stability problems and reinstalled it in a different way.

Btw it's interesting that you as a landscape photographer prefer the LUT and sharpening settings vs the default sim. Been doing a bit of photography myself, although as a hobbyist, and to my eyes the tweaks discussed in this thread really makes sense.

On MS-store version. Would think Steam requires a different approach. Have you tried running the latest installer from reshade.me and selecting MSFS? Then once it installs you need to copy the FinalLight_v1.3.ini preset to the ReShade folder.

Like I read you say you flick the effects on and off at times to check its working.  At first I thought it was very subtle but I do see a change to the colour temperature, its a little bit cooler.  No idea what all the various adjustments work best for the sharpening but the cockpit of the PMDG 737 certainly looks sharper, especially all the text.  If I flick it on and off it looks quite blurry, even at 4K on a 40" screen which I had previously thought looked good.  Reshade will certainly be used on all sessions from now on.

I find that the more I use it, the more accustomed I grow to it. Initially the changes seemed subtle, but now it's very noticeable when I turn it on/off. I'm still using the default values for Lumasharp though, and there is a very noticeable change without any visible artifacts.

Btw @cj-ibbotson do you have the D3D11 tab in the reshade menu?

Very simple, as mentioned. Just install ReShade from https://reshade.me/ and then just drop the "Textures" and "Shaders" folders into the MSFS folder, prompting to override / copy into, plus "FinalLight_v1.3.ini"

Then fire up the sim, open the ReShade window (END) and load FinalLight_v1.3.ini in the drop down.

I have the Steam version of MSFS.
I've installed ReShade, it automatically selected my [drive]\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator folder.
If I understand correctly, you are saying I then take the Shaders and Textures folders from the RealLight .zip download and paste them into the MSFS folder at the disk address in my previous sentence - is that correct?

Where do I copy the FinalLight_v1.3.ini, into the same location?

Do I need to copy any other files or folders from the downloaded FinalLight .zip folder?

Thanks.

Hey,

Yes, that is correct. Copy those two folders into that path, should prompt for an override or copy-into as your ReShade installation should have already created those folders.

And FinalLight_v1.3.ini goes into the root folder, i.e [drive]\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator

That's it. The other files in the zip are essentially the stuff installed during the ReShade setup that has been packed up for the MSFS version.

Anyone having problems with Reshade in MSFS lately? I have been using Reshade for more than a year with MSFS without any problems, and it was working after SU11 was installed, but i tried it today and suddenly doesn't work any more.

If i just double click the BAT file i get an error message saying "Something went wrong launching your game. Error code: (0x8007012b), and if i click OK then MSFS shuts down.
If i run the BAT file as administrator, then MSFS starts as normal but Reshade is not injected.

I tried updating to the latest Reshade DLL but it still doesn't work. I have the Microsoft Store version and i use DX11. I haven't changed anything to my PC lately but i think some automatic Windows updates were installed.

I'm a bit desperate, because MSFS is totally unplayable for me without Reshade. Most colors are washed out, some greens are oversaturated, image is blurry, and an overwhelming blue haze covers everything once i get above a few thousand feet altitude. I spent a lot of money on this sim with all the addons i bought, and now it suddenly became unusable for me. I tried the Nvidia filters but it just doesn't get even close to what i was able to do with Reshade.

Thank you for any useful tips.

I've got an issue with SU11 and reshade. Sometimes when I enter the menu the display will go completely black. When this happens I just have to restart the sim. It can happen quite frequently, so I haven't been using reshade lately.
