Salty 747 Mod - I'm impressed

Yes, absolutely love it. This and the 787 Heavy Mod are the only 2 aircrafts I fly in MSFS 2020. And that is saying something coming from some who used PMDG 747-8 and QW 787 in FSX. The only thing I don't like with the Salty mod is that the airport map in not modeled in the Nav window. The default has it but somehow the Slaty Mod eliminated it. The 787 Heavy Mod kept it.

Cheers.

Is this the 787 mod you are using?

The overhead is a little limited and so the pre-start and startup is a shorter version as I don;t think the hydraulic system is fully modelled yet.

Take-off roll is still a little sensitive but maybe that's cross winds at work

I'm always seeing a fuel load from Simbrief come in about 25 tonnes too low and I have to top it up mid cruise because I'm getting negative EFOB values at my destination!  For example NY to London it gave me about 65T, but ended up more like 90T.

I'll give the Heavy787 another go too and see how it goes transAtlantic.

After a few weeks of trial and error. I'm pleased to release this Salty 747 Package.

Features
Texture improvements
Better wingflex
New Flight Model
Improved IRS
New Engine Animations
Freighter Variant and model now separated in menu
Custom light effects

SimBrief Profiles:
747-8i: Here
747-8F: Here
747-8BBJ: Here

Known Issues
General
Liveries need to be updated by the livery devs to support the new engine animations and freighter model - Or do it youself using the ReadMe
Freighter Model:
- Rivets/panels do not match default model appearance, Had to modify them to fit the new fuselage and am unable to export them in a way that makes them behave the same as the default.
- Fuselage Normals dont show correctly
- Performance issues for some users resulting in poor FPS. Unsure what's causing it but have confimred it isn't LOD related.
BBJ Model:
- Some users may experience FPS drops.
- Fictional Livery

My humble apologies if I wasn't clear; it's the Salty 747 that doesn't have the airport map not the 787. The Heavy Mod 787 definitely has it.

Thanks.

Cheers.

Great, I didn’t know nothing of Salty mods of TJCaviation, so, are they different than Salty and its plane in the FlyByWire Installer app? or as I am in the Salty stable release the update doesn´t leap to me because it is experimental?

This isn't related to Salty or FBW, it uses Salty systems, etc. But is a different project.

Eventually, I'd like to merge this to Salty, but unlikely

Aah, ok ok, really thanks, great job.

I did a quick hop from London Gatwick to Ibiza this morning and it was actually pretty good,

It's been a while but I will definitely be getting some more air time in "The Queen" 🙂

I have seen a few updates go in for the Salty 747 in recent months, via the installer so thought I'd take for a 9 hour test flight (on sim rate 4.... 🙂 )

I am happy there is proper Simbrief integration of payload and fuel now so you get proper thrust and speed info for take off. This helps the roll and climb out experience a lot and really gives the 747 that heavy feeling.

Q: What's the ballpark fuel burn per hour for the 747 ? I am seeing very wrong block fuel loads coming from SimBrief. like 20-30T short. Should a "P" factor be applied when you generate the OFP ?

Today i tried to install the salty mod throught the Flybwire installer, the surprise it's that when i launch the sim and i press menu knob on the fmc the salty option is not displayed, for some reason the mod didnt run, anyone knows what is the issue?

You probably simply chose the default 747 instead of the Salty one.
