I just tried this in SU 11 beta. First time I ever had a stutter free flight in SU 11 beta in DX 11. DX 12 was always smooth regardless, but not DX 11 in SU11.

So, I set flightsimulator.exe to all 12 cores except 2,3,5,and 6. And set audiodg.exe to only cores 5 and 6.

No stutters flying into John Wayne Burban KBUR (orbx 2) which is the airport most likely to stutter I have ever purchased. Before I  had to  concentrate to land there (bad stutters).

Thank you, Noel !

Please post your batch file.  I would like to try moving the audiodg as well.  I get 2 to 5 second pauses every 20 minutes or so.  thanks.

For anyone interested I have been experimenting with "Bill's Process Manager"

I assume it must retain the assigned cores and priorities?  If so, what do you need a batch file for?  Here's a weird one:  audiodg.exe DOES retain the core assignment thru boot ups!  Go figure nothing else does!

FWIW Mark, audiodg had no impact on my hard pauses, but may have had an impact on microstutters.

Another poster had mentioned doing this from a batch file is much cleaner as some of these programs can cause other issues. One thing I found yesterday is that all of a sudden the shortcut I use to start MSFS was not working, the sim would start then CTD. What I found was that I need to start the sim and once at the main menu then start the addons (Spad.Next, FSLTL, Fenix etc) then start the process manager which then changes the CPU affinity for each program setup. I was doing all of this before starting the sim and for some reason this was causing the CTD. I am still experimenting whether there is value in shifting the addons to the e-cores. Just departed Glasgow in the Fenix (The Fenix was always the hardest addon in terms of fps)  in heavy weather with traffic and so far it has been pretty smooth. I decided to manually remove MSFS from the e-cores this morning as well.

I am still investigating the batch file option as this was not causing the CTD but the challenge I have is that for some reason FSLTL will not start from the batch command. It opens then quits

Same thing happened to me today. I manually changed some MSFS core affinities using Lasso, and MSFS would CTD before reaching the Xbox logo.

That’s probably not a bad idea. Having it use only the p-cores should be more than enough. Probably Windows thread director would assign lesser demanding programs to the E-cores, so they won’t compete with MSFS.

I also found out that when I was getting the issue even though I quit the process manager the changes were still in place and MSFS would CTD until I rebooted. I have confirmed the work around is start MSFS first then fire up the process editor an addons. If I need to quit the sim for any reason I will just reboot. I even moved the Navigraph addons that are needed as well as my stream deck software on to cores 16,17,18 & 19.

This seems to be an improvement when in the Fenix, I am seeing much more consistent frame timing even when climbing through heavy cloud coverage

You need to change to the FSLTL folder that has the EXE in it first.

Do you mean just change the name to something simpler?

No.

In your batch file, you need to CD to the folder that the FSLTL EXE resides in, then start the FSLTL exe.

For example, my FSLTL is located here: G:\FSBackups\Community\Mods\Aircraft\fsltl-traffic-injector\fsltl-trafficinjector.exe

To start it using a batch file, I would have to do this:

G:
cd \FSBackups\Community\Mods\Aircraft\fsltl-traffic-injector
start fsltl-trafficinjector.exe

Thanks I will give that a try, This is what I was using

@ECHO OFF
echo.
TIMEOUT 5
echo Starting FSLTL with AffinityMask . . .
start "FSLTL" /affinity F0000 "D:\MSFS\Mods\Aircraft\fsltl-traffic-injector\fsltl-trafficinjector.exe"
echo.

I had other lines pointing towards Spad.next and the Fenix app which followed the same format. These worked, it was just FSLTL that didn't start.

I will try what you mentioned in the test batch file I created just for FSLTL

Q: Don't you need to set a value behind the AffinityMask?

Edit: Haha, only now i see it has the echo command at the front.

So the answer is "No".

I've had nothing but trouble w/ Lasso and messaged the Dev about it but never resolved it.  Way too complex a program when all I need is to be to set affinity and priority per app.  Windows really ought to be able to allow users to do this.
