MSFS : 12900K vs 13900K both using a 4090

Nahhh, I just came from a 5800X3D and upgraded to 13900K and Z790 board. The 13900K beats the 5800X3D hands down. Now, this is on 4K. I have never used 1080P on MSFS or any of my other games. Maybe in 1080p the 5800X3D does better, but once you throw in 4K in there, 13900K is king. I’m talking about 10 more frames in average and defined a lot smoother fps than 5800X3D.

All this benchmarks showing 1080P has it’s purpose, but let’s be real, unless you are a pro gamer, who in the world buys a high end CPU to game at 1080P. Especially on MSFS.

Same here I bought the 5800X3D but made the step to I7-13700K and in 4K it's better and much better lows then the AMD.

Ah yes. Frame times are very important to me. Latency not so much.

Trying to get re-acquainted with the 737 now and I keep swearing at the FMC. It's super-awkward configuring the aircraft settings without an EFB. Sigh. I've been spoiled with the FBW and the Fenix.

I use an old tablet with a small app and the FMC works perfectly, never have to look down at the FMC in the aircraft. The awesome thing is you can switch between the left and right FMC’s. When setting up the flight I use the right FMC for loading fuel, passenger’s, ground services etc and the left FMC for configuring the flight all on the same tablet and by touching a certain point on the screen you can switch between the two. I’ll let you know the name of the app when I’m back near my PC

I agree, this makes the cockpit preparation very efficient. It’s been a while since my post and I’m more used to the PMDG now, having re-aquainted myself with it.

Great if you find the name of the app 🙂

Here it is, been using it flawlessly on a 10 inch Huawei MediaPad for a few months. It’s very responsive. Would really like this capability in the Fenix as well

I now start all my addons, MSFS and spawn at the gate then fire up Bill’s process manager which handles all the affinity & priority changes. Then I quit the process manager. Like you I found MSFS doesn’t like it if you make changes to the affinity before it’s fully loaded.

Not true w/ Process Lasso which I only start after all is loaded, the plane is at the gate.

That’s basically what I do with Bill’s process manager. I use a script to start whichever addons I need, fire up MSFS from the reshade bat get to the gate then load the process manager once at the gate. MSFS crashes to desktop if I try to start it with the affinity changed.

Yes the same here. Basically I wait until MSFS has loaded to the menu before I change core affinities. But - it seems I've forgotten it on the current flight (just finished a flight in the A310).

I'm fine if I wait until MSFS is at the menu.
