That British tabloid story is designed to attract attention and isn’t typical of media reporting.

England versus United States should be interesting plus both our games against Iran.

Apart from the obvious prohibited political aspects... its hot, very hot. I know they shifted the date to compensate for the heat but it will still reach 30 degrees. Not exactly conducive to  great athletic performance, apart  from for those who were born in those temps. 

Our chances of course, of doing reasonably well, are as limited as always.

I remember watching the 1970 World Cup in Mexico when temps would have been just as high if not higher and players lost 5-6lbs of fluid in matches. But there have been big rises in understanding of hydration since then. Plus many games are played in the evening when temps are lower.

Staged half-way through European leagues players should not be as tired as summer tournaments. Fingers crossed!

Apparently a Danish TV reporter has just been prevented from broadcasting by the security forces. 🙄

Strike at Heathrow began today. USA, Wales, and England play Monday (the scheduled last day of the strike). Travelers need to get to Quatar before Monday. First game is Sunday Quatar vs. Ecuador.

....and now the Qatari government are saying that they do not want any beer sold at stadiums. There could be trouble ahead.....

FIFA, in a U-turn, have agreed now apparently. No booze outside of stadiums. I guess they will buy it elsewhere and bring it with them then.
