England V USA on Friday.

And we will expect all American Avsim members to support England. Or all cat points will be deleted.

And I expect all Channel Islanders to support the USA.  My neighborhood cat says so.

No, no, no , no! Although I have great respect for your neighborhood cat, the superior being that keeps you as a pet, I think you misunderstand the laws that govern football reality.

Americans don't understand football, they even think its called "soccer" To them football is donning yourself in padding that would protect you from a nuclear blast, and following weird rules to get a funny shaped ball all the way to the other end in as very disjointed manner. Our Rugby players do something similar, but without any padding because they are as hard as nails.

So because Americans don't understand football and don't care as much as us about winning, its only right that they should support the England team.

Any failure to follow this directive, sanctioned by the Feline Galactic Counsel (FGC), will be looked upon very harshly and all cat points deleted.

And my prediction for Fridays game is... England 3 USA 1. You scored 1 against Wales so I'll grant you 1 against us.

I think we'll get through this round and quickly succumb to the might of the teams that follow. I'm thinking the European Championship second place was probably just a glitch in the matrix.

I am not so sure about that, Martin. I will reserve judgment until I have watched the matches against the USA and Wales.

Yep, wise I guess, given our history.

🤣
The reality is that a lot of Americans, whether recently or multiple generations ago, have come from somewhere else. So if USA does not advance, loyalties then usually go to the countries where your ancestors came from.  I can only speak from my own personal experience here in the Bay Area for the last half century, but there’s a lot of interest in football/soccer here with amateur leagues representing teams organized by ethnicity.  My brother, who was 20 years older than me, was a goalkeeper for the Greek American team here in San Francisco back in the 1950s. So it’s not “only right” that we should support the England team. But who knows. You can always try asking me again when the Elgin marbles return home 🇬🇷🏛️🇬🇷 🤣😆😂

I can see that there may be many transgressions here, resulting in many forum members with devastated cat points. That won't bode well when the felines take total control.

So on this occasion you are allowed to favour the USA team.

If England play like they did against Iran, they will win. If they play like they did against Scotland in the European Championships, all bets are off.

Well, we shall see at 7pm tonight. Hot dogs and onions are purchased and ready to go.

Cup of tea and a slice of strawberry cheesecake with double cream at half time
