I see white rectangles containing a message about contacting User:TheDJ on the map

This is related to the hillshading option.

The admin for the server providing the hillshading data decided to shut down the service.

Uncheck the button Show Hillshading on the toolbar or in menu View -> Show Hillshading.

You can use the OpenTopoMap or StamenTerrain map themes which do not require a separate hillshading source since it is included in the map images.

Or use one these maps as an alternative: New maps for LNM (Avsim Forum).

Hi there,

Airservices Australia now publishes all their charts (ERC High, ERC Low, PCA,TAC,VNC,VTC) for free online.

They are all downloadable as pdfs.

What would be required to convert these maps into something that can be consumed by LittleNavmap? I see that the extra maps provided by the zip file are all remotely hosted content, with the zip file just contaning the dgml files which point to this content.

Sorry, display of PDFs is not doable. KML/KMZ is. You can use KML if you can convert the PDFs to images.

Ok so if I convert the pdfs to png, is it better/easier to look at KML/KMZ or the DGML formats? I have had a quick look at the Marble KDE pages and will do some more analysis when I have time on that and also the KMZ stuff.

Are there obvious pros/cons of these formats, given my end goal is to make these available to use in LittleNavMap?

YMMV with KML. The Marble support for KML is a bit buggy.

There is only one con to PDF: The Marble tool I use to show the background maps like OpenStreetMap does not support PDF at all.
So you can use PNG or JPG with KML or DGML.

For all having problems with the Google maps showing labels in random languages:

How can I import PNG files into Little NavMap?  I have got PDF files of actual Australian charts that I have exported as 400dpi PNG files, but what is the next step to use them in LittleNavMap?

Either pack them into a KML or see here for information how to create a map theme: https://www.littlenavmap.org/manuals/littlenavmap/release/2.6/en/MAPTHEMES.html

I don't know if you have been using them already, but I have made a bunch of new maps for LNM, which make some widely popular map and chart data accessible from LNM. I think you'll find them useful too.

To install the maps, download and unzip the file, then copy and paste the folder data found inside it to the location where you have your copy of LNM installed. Say yes to overwrite, when asked. You'll find my maps in a drop-down list of available maps, below all other ones and marked Custom, as shown on the image below.

Maps included:

• Google Maps (Default)
• Google Maps (Satellite)

• U.S. VFR Sectionals
• U.S. IFR Enroute Low

This for the 2.6 releases:

Text varies depending on your currently selected map theme.

For 2.7 alpha/development: Dark blue globe icon on the toolbar.

Can't get it to work.  My Files look exactly like you show above, but the three files have a .dgml extension.  Didn't see anything marked "data".

In the process of upgrading to 2.8.0, I'm having some problems with map backgrounds. This first shot is the VFR Sectional and unable to change the background color. I hope the image will upload but I have grave doubts.
