December 15, 20223 yr Moderator Heard about this earlier on the news and was expecting worse, more of an auger in type crash. Fortunately it was only a slight crash if you could even call it that, but the pilot did eject, while the aircraft was on the ground and was ok. Attached is a video of the incident, but couldn’t figure out how to embed it. Guess the pilot decided to get out before the spinning got worse or the aircraft flipped upside down. Good example of a zero-zero ejection seat being used. https://twitter.com/cbs11doug/status/1603466654704406530?s=20&t=t4VgmHajeftROvoVyKpYbQ Post Edit- updated link Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 16, 20223 yr Moderator Sorry to say that the link does not work for me. This link however has three videos from various angles. From the pictures in the 3rd video, it appears as though the F35 should be repairable! I'd hate to see them write off a $100,000,000 aircraft!!!! I don't blame the pilot from ejecting as the plane would have been in the same condition as it is now, but it was far safer to exit, stage left! Oh, I just read that F35 belongs to Lockheed-Martin, so who knows what they will ultimately decide to do with it. Edited December 16, 20223 yr by n4gix Added final paragraph. Fr. December 16, 20223 yr In that case the plane was probably only worth about $10,000,000. I believe LM has a 1000% profit margin.😁 Intel Core i9-10900K at 5.2GHz, Corsair H115i PRO, ASUS MAXIMUS XII HERO Z490, G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 15-16-16-36, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3090, SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS M.2 2280 1TB x 3, Corsair HX Series HX1000 Watt PSU, Pimax Crystal LIght.
December 16, 20223 yr Author Moderator @n4gix I edited the link. See if it works now. It’s a pretty good view from a spotter who was filming. Btw, you didn’t post a link. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
December 16, 20223 yr Link works now. Looks like something went wrong with the VTOL thrust, lifting the tail and shoving the nose into the pavement, then ground looping the aircraft. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

Actually, the rate of decent was too high and it bounced, then went nose down. I know what you mean though, even after the pilot must have cut the power it still seemed to have lots of thrust shoving it around, from the rear nozzle, not cold thrust from the lift fan. Not so simple with the weird way they have the controls configured. You don't use the thrust lever to climb or descend in the hover, you use the stick, forward for down and back for up. 🙄Not sure why they designed it that way, weird.

Oh yes, a few tubs of your American Bondo car filler should do it. Perhaps a bit of that zinc mesh too. Can of spray and all will be well. Might need some assorted grades of sand paper too. 😏

Rats! Apparently, the link was lost when I made a final edit to add the last paragraph.
