right click in library->properties->betas

yes but ...

nothing happens if I right click. is there a possibility I might have disabled to participate in betas in general somewhere else?

a picture says more than 6 words. that did it, thanks very much mSparks!

still surprised how the most powerful RTX 4090 2.000 $  GPU provides only 28 fps in a lousy default C172 at a lousy middle of nowhere S31 Lopez Island, non-towered airfield. no additional traffic or other tools loaded.

spacer.png

and it got even worse after landing at nearby KORS. fps were briefly down to a staggering 13 fps, all this on an 8 core i9-9900K @4.8 GHz + RTX 4090 @99% GPU load.🥵

and some strange artefacts over the wings during turns:

spacer.png

and at last: stunning totally convincing views in rain at dusk over London.  a situation when I think by myself: I knew I shouldn't have gone flying today. 😆

spacer.png

safe and sound back on the ground in London City EGLC, only 18 fps and irritating stall horn sounds while sitting on the ground are minor problems when you survived such weather. memories of my real world flying, and I normally don't pray. 😱

@turbomax, yup same here.  complete rubbish.  how people than think its acceptable on a released proudcut and not a beta is completely beyond me.

if someone with a 4090 has issues then that makes me feel slightly better its not just my 1080ti

mSparks, help please. these githubs pages are very confusing. is this the latest for xplane12 that I should use?

Sparky744.release3.0a1.zip

https://github.com/mSparks43/747-400/releases/download/3.0/Sparky744.release3.0a1.zip

and what are "some of the new features now available."

what is new in xp12 that wasn't possible in xp11.30? I don't mean improvements in the B747 per se, but new and exclusive, only possible as of xp12 beyond the rain puddles?

6 years after release of x-plane 11 they probably needed new income, no matter what the state of development. "let's call it a day, lets call it x-plane 12" 😊

despite all, I quite like xp12, mostly at dusk in marginal VFR it feels very convincing. compared to the rich other sim (name escapes me) xp12 feels like I'm on a no fat low calories, frugal diet. relaxing from time to time and easy to maintain.

Yes, I like it too when trying the demo. Still, the times where this state of development could be sold as a full product have passed now luckily - and that's basically a good thing for all flightsimmers. Competition!

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Sparky744.release3.0a1.zip

https://github.com/mSparks43/747-400/releases/download/3.0/Sparky744.release3.0a1.zip

For XP12 yes, start with 3.0a1.zip, there is a new one coming soon (github facilitates sharing every small change with everyone), but that is the best place to start - not quite the most current (put together in end of October), but easiest to get started to familiarise yourself with her (just extract it to the xplane Aircraft folder, run the two exes in the zip)

pretty much complete 744 ground school is here:

top line specifically for the 744.

Rain, wipers and icing effects on the windscreen in vulkan are XP12 only, and "light years ahead" of the version Skiselkov made for XP11.

Dual ND displays (pilot and copilot NDs were fundamentally the same for XP11, "wasted" some time previously getting them partly independent)

And of course, the lighting, omg the lighting, its beautiful, but that was a lot of work fixing up these, and probably a few still missed

WgFJnmE.png

can't fault the end result tho - well worth it.

But not how you think. Fundamentally (imho) its about 3rd party sales like:

https://www.gleimaviation.com/shop/cockpitbatd/

https://realsimgear.com/products/realsimgear-cirrus-batd

https://www.flythissim.com/products/fixed-wing-flight-simulators/touchtrainer-vm.html

Once you get FAA approval, you can't make changes to the setup, so XP11 getting "signed off" means they could start selling XP11 trainers.

Once XP12 is final, 3PDs like that will start selling XP12 trainers.

Until then, XP12 releases are like an aircraft with a special airworthiness certificate in the experimental category (aka, aircraft with an "X" in their registration)

Gleimaviation began with accounting courses and meanwhile moved to aviation gadgets only 😀 , that's where I bought my FAA courses from long time ago, the red Gleim books.

wth:

747 @ 8 fps sitting on the runway in the middle of nowhere KFHR @ 4 K resolution RTX 4090 100% GPU load,  i9-9900K @ 4.8 GHz, 8 cores, 64 GB RAM ???

what I found: fps are cut in half when I look down to see the whole panel, with no outside view. I had expected the opposite. the same goes for the C172. down from 31 fps to a lousy 13 fps.

I am speechless, that is not what I had expected from x-plane 12 in 2023.

There is something clearly wrong with your setup. Yes, XP12 performs worse than MSFS on my system, but I never saw anything lower than 30 fps with my 4090, even when using advanced add-ons, live traffic, ortho & 4K.
