appreciate all your knowledge and help

totally agree! and while we are at it mSparks: is there an easier way to turn VR on instead of always starting in that hangar and having to use those VR controllers, like we can do in other "games/applications" 😊 by just hitting Ctrl-TAB or some such?

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

perfect example of wrong priorities. they should have built and optimized Germany only AFTER x-plane was finished. Like they did with US cities, all rectangular, north-south-east-west bound roads. so precise you can re-align your compass over country roads. that's what I'd call tick-tock.

They were always going to rush it out before Christmas to get sales. How a sim you can only properly use in the day time is considered a RC and not beta is unknown to me, but so long as people treat developers like angels this is now the new norm on all the platforms.

A bunch of 2 or 3 guys on the org have found out within a couple of hours of release of RC the light poles are an issue, yet a month after RC and after  and 12 or so beta's the development team still can't find a hotfix.

you sure meant like your counter strike application.

more PS3/PS4 - only settings I ever touched there was controller setup.

Im actually pretty happy with the graphics sliders in XP12, they all have a clear meaning and impact on fps, with an easy ability to trade say better veg for worse clouds, different render distance needed for VR and 2D, lower texture res if you are vram limited and turn up fsr if you are on 4K/8K displays or on a really old gpu.

In XP11 the sliders were next to useless and meaningful tweaking to eek the best out to your preferences had to be done by hacking the settings.txt.

then by the time XP11.55 dropped I had all sliders to max with 60fps in VR, with only a single tweek to settings.txt to slightly reduce veg.

all the time fighting with mods on the org telling me anything more than 24fps wasnt important or saying I was lieing about getting into triple digit fps.

Doing my best to make that experience less painful for the new generation of xplainers than it was for me.

yes, you can bind a keys to toggle VR. and toggle the VR mouse

I use insert to toggle VR and the far top left key (') to toggle the VR mouse.

2) is something like xOrganizer for x-plane12 a good idea?

Yes

3) any xp12 specific general aviation aircraft you can recommend besides Goran's Challenger masterpiece? twins, turboprops, business jets?

Look up aerobask and their aircraft. DA62 and Phenom 300 have been updated for XP12 and are excellent.

Their recently released DA42 is also excellent.

well guys, thanks for all your help, especially mSparks. I tried hard to enjoy this x-periment 12, but after this flight I will walk over to my other "games/application" hangar, I don't see myself spending a single dime for addons while it is in such an unfinished "final" state a.k.a. "

were you flying in the rain there? It feels like maybe they were going for

Or is it those dreaded fsr upscaling artifacts?

no rain but happens in other situations as well, I showed yesterday above the wings of the C172 during turns. didn't have that in the previous version 11.30. it is just too much disappointment after great expectations, I lost my patience with this half baked version. But ready to revisit as soon as those artefacts have been resolved.

thanks mSparks for your help and patience.

XP simulates wing condensation, usually it looks fine/great

gcHa00j.png

(thats the sim not the aircraft dev generating the moisture, based on the airflow over the wings)

It looks like that only funked somehow (never seen anything like it). 4K FSR would be my best guess, does it do that if you run in window mode at a lower res without FSR?

I see XP trying my patience as great practice for RW flying, better not to be the one who goes viral for

yes it does look very nice in your screenshot, maybe the C172 is too slow for that kind of condensation effect 😀 try at dusk as in my screenshots.

spacer.png

this horrible heat wave effect happens only in front of dark background, like dusk/night and if I move the spot camera fast or make fast turns in the plane. here my graphics settings, all in windowed mode. same with FSR OFF.

it looks fantastic during daylight though.

its not so much a speed, it does it (properly) from dew point and how the wing is changing the air pressure as far as I can tell, and if not is great at "faking it". they also do the rain on the windscreen based on airflow over the glass.

very strange effect you see there tho, the only time Ive actually seen a screenshot like it is the TAA in matrix revolutions that most everyone is hating on. but XP12 doesnt have TAA. which is all I have to base the FSR thought on. These upscaling kits have unknown issues, could be one of them, only guessing tho. The quick alternative is to draw at 2K without the FSR.

the flipside of being first into a new sim, is you will be among the first to see things no one has seen before...

after reloading the FLIGHT in midair but after changing time to daylight, all panels are black but engines running normal. total partial panel, so to speak. didn't expect that after loading a flight file, this would be a case for squawking 7600 and use standby instruments.

perhaps I found the culprit: it happens only if the plane is in front of these ugly unrealistic black clouds and the spot view camera moves fast, but not during daylight or in front of the dark water surface.

I also get the same thing. Youre not alone
