Embraer E175 by FSS

Featured Replies

I think this warrants a second, and hopefully, more constructive topic.

I bought it but then had a grim fight with the installation. This was nothing to do with FSS but everything to do with Aerosofts DRM program. Turns out that the geniuses at Aerosoft didn't realise that the MSFS exe.xml file could be located elsewhere than the default C drive position. So it wouldn't launch because the DRM installer bunged the code in the wrong place.😀

The customer service by FSS was friendly and excellent with a very quick response A temporary solution was forthcoming. Just execute the utilities .exe (once you've found it) manually before starting a flight.  Ended up editing the exe.xml myself when I knew what the issue was and all is well.

And I am very pleasantly surprised with the plane. Sure, it's WIP but it's perfectly flyable and far more advanced than I was expecting.  If FSS keep the momentum going I'll be a happy bunny and it will be a very good addition to the sim. It gets a thumbs up from me.

Perhaps you may want to share some more details.

  • What are your PC specs?
  • How is the framerate? What's it like compared to another airliner you own? Can you approach a large airport with AI traffic? Previous videos suggest it's stuttery.
  • Did it hold selected climb/descent rates? Level-off correctly or did you have a level bust?
  • Bank angle 30° or less? Overfly waypoints or was there significant lateral deviation?
  • Capture localiser and glideslope without any issues? This has been a frequent problem.
  • Take-off pitch as expected?
  • Flare appropriately?
  • Can you maintain runway centreline easily?
  • Drag works or is it overly/less effective?
  • Engine spool times realistic?
  • Any show stopping issues like CTDs, freezes, engine cut-outs, automatics or manual controls failing to respond, etc?

I713700 with an RTX3070. (I think)

Frames rates are poor. Worst plane I have in this respect. But still OK for me. Just.

Climb/Descent fine, Altitude capture fine. ILS captured fine. AutoThrottle fine. No VNAV of course but the FMS and Autopilot are way more advanced than a default airliner. Perfectly usable. Climb using FLCH with speed selected. Cruise using AutoThrottle. Descend using VS and AutoThrottle.

Take off pitch and flare seem OK to me as far as I remember.

No problem with maintaining runway centreline.

I think there is too much drag. Shows on descent.

Spool up seems reasonable. Not that I would know any different.

No CTDs or any other issues.

No doubt it's WIP though. There's work to do.

Thanks for this extra info. Useful to know.

From the reply email I got from the devs I'm now convinced they are serious about this project. I think it's going to end up as one of the best airliners available.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

The only thing that stops me from jumping on the early-access bandwagon for this one is performance. If they can optimize this issue with an update in the near future, I'm in.

Yeah. Frames rate is awful to be honest. They say it's on the to do list. Helps to turn off the right hand displays. And funnily enough I've just flown into Alicante and it was fine but taking off from Southampton my FPS were terrible.

Any issues getting from A to B.

I saw a stream by Emmi and a real Ejet pilot - they claim the aircraft does not even follow basic AP settings.

Can someone who had experience with the feelthere offering compare?

No problem for me getting from A to B. Follows the flight path OK but you will still get USER waypoints on arrival which you can delete.

For me it's the fact it's published by Aerosoft. I know they are only the publisher/retailer of this one but I REALLY don't want to be contributing to their income in any way.

PC specs are in my signature.

Framerate is comparable to other airliners I have, PMDG 737-700 and AS CRJ 7. 40-50 fps depending whether I'm on the ground or aloft, default airport or KORD, KLAX, etc. Only time I ever observe stutters is in spot view looking forward and down at approx 45 degrees in all planes.

Climbs and descends similar to the two airliners mentioned above with the same shortcomings, ie: descend too rapidly and speed control is impossible. If anything it's too cautious approaching selected altitude, same as the Ejets in P3D so it might be normal for these Embraers.

Overfly waypoints? No, that award was taken by the AS CRJs. Using the same flightplan as I used testing the CRJ, the E-175 nails the turns greater than 30 degrees.

Capturing the LOC/GS is not a frequent problem. In 10 flights it missed the ILS 2 times. That's 80% success rate. If the E-175 was a baseball player it would be paid billions with that average. As the dev suggests for now, approach the ILS at 30 degrees in HDG mode and hit the APR button when the needle starts moving. Letting the FMS bring you in isn't working for me or I'm not understanding correctly.

Currently the FD does not pitch up correctly. Too easy to rush past V2+10 at takeoff. Or maybe I'm the problem.

I'm the wrong guy to ask about flaring correctly. It's not my strong point so I'll ignore this one.

What's a centerline? See above reply. I can do it in the Honda Jet but nose wheel steering in the E-175 needs work.

It does not seem to be as slippery as the 737 I have but no idea if this thing accelerates or decelerates per specs. Does not feel like I'm dragging an anchor with flaps deployed.

No idea if the engines spool up correctly. First few times I reached altitude the engines sounded like they were shutting down but it was just too much of a sound change which could probably be easily fixed. Non issue unless one is looking for something to word not allowed about.

Any show stoppers? No, but I can't get the throttles and spoiler to work in Lorbys AAO. If the various devs use custom code in their planes why keep it a secret. Post the variable scripts needed like Flight FX (the Honda Jet) does. Simmers don't all use the internal control options. No CTDs with this plane. Lots and lots of things as explained by the dev currently don't work.

It's far from perfect but it is not the alpha product some claim after watching youtube videos and not actually buying the product. I was surprised at the amount of help files and docs are included showing what is working and what is not. I'm not sure anyone would build this much of a foundation to rip people off for $40.

Compared to the $25 price tag of the Honda Jet, everything else is overpriced unless it's free. But I don't have buyer's remorse having spent $40 for this E-175.

I have flown the Feelthere product a lot. You can't compare, because the Feelthere had custom AP while this one uses MSFS default AP. So you can expect whatever you get with the default MSFS AP.
If you watch the video from Into the Blue Simulations I linked above you'll find he had more success using FLCH on descent, but he was also having autothrottle secretly disconnect after takeoff like Emi, and on approach he was having problems capturing the localizer and afterwards getting an awful oscillation up and down from the plane trying to hold the glideslope.

Why use FLCH on descent? It's not used in real life. In the absence of VNAV use VS, speed and mathematics to calculate TOD and descent rate? I did have these oscillations on the glide slope though.

Off topic but in the previous (now closed) E175 topic someone mentioned the FSS discord channel or whatever it's called. Anyone have any info or an invite?
