Let‘s talk about beauty (airliner edition)

You forgot Concorde. Surely one of the most beautiful machines man has ever created. In terms of looks and your list it's like comparing Beyoncé with Dame Edna Everage.in ten different frocks.

Well there is not a good one (Concorde) in MSFS at the moment (DC designs don't cut it). Maybe  FS Labs in 2026?

which airliners do you feel attracted to

None of them. Instead I have a healthy attraction to my wife! 😆

Airliners currently in MSFS that I find aesthetically pleasing are:

747-8 a.k.a. Jumbo Jet. Although the -8i has some great lines, I prefer the -400 as it has the best proportions and winglets, unlike other variants. That said, she's Queen of the Skies for a reason.

BAe 146 a.k.a. Jumbolino. High wing, T-tail, four engines (and great short field performance), so different from the low wing, two engine identikit airliners that eventually replaced it.

737 a.k.a. Tin mouse, Maggot, Pocket Rocket Socket, FLUF (Fat Little Ugly F*****), SUF (Short Ugly F*****), Light Twin, Baby Boeing, Fat Freddy, Guppy, Yuppy Guppy, Pig, Bobby (BOeing BaBY), Rudder Rotor, Fat Albert, Dung Beatle. So many face-lifts that the latest incarnation looks more like the late Joan Rivers than Scarlett Johansson. Then again, the Jurassic 737s weren't as pleasant to look at as their bigger sister, the 727 (hence all the unflattering nicknames). Ask someone to name a short-haul airliner and it's probably the first one to come to mind.

All the rest are visually fine, but nothing special, and that includes the 787.

As mentioned, Concorde is a special, special aircraft. But that nose when drooped reminds me of Barbra Streisand. It's the one visual disappointment, the rest of it looks like a scaled-up supersonic military jet.

Well, I do like the 747, but only the first couple of versions, and ideally the SP. To me, all the stretched versions of anything are a bit like your favourite hollywood glamour pusses after the face lifts have taken hold (a bit sexist, I grant you, but if we are going to anthropomorphise these things . . .)

I also love the A318, which is now available via LVFR, and the 737-600.

I guess I'm just not the leggy super-model type! (and I'm sure that's extremely reciprocal)

(but none of these can hold a candle to the Spitfire or P51, but maybe the non-airliner thread will be along later)

I know what you mean. The 737-900 looks wrong. I think it's because the landing gear is so short and the plane so low and what the 757-300 did to the beautiful perfection of the 757-200 was criminal 😆 The 777-300 bothers me somehow as well.

I'm with you on these two.  Most of the time I like the shortest variant of a family as it just looks strong.

to me the E-Jet is hideous.  Perhaps the ugliest of all modern commercial airliners.  But beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I always thought all the old, Soviet planes and helicopters were ugly.

That looks more like a Batmobile rather than like a truck. Or a car. What makes you compare this to the E-Jet?

I was responding to micstatic's comment that E-jet is 'hideous'.  Musk's truck is hideous, just like its creator 🤣

Crikey! it's the "Max Headroom" of cars.

It's just about every kind of dreadful. Straight from some futuristic dystopian nightmare film and as though the last 110 years of car design didn't happen.
