They are intended for X-Plane novices and other interested X-Plane users who want to go beyond the "ordinary" flying, so that they know what jewel they hold in hand. Not only novices, but also experienced users still can learn something (or be reminded) 👍 Edited June 9, 20232 yr by flying_carpet Watch my YT-channel: https://www.youtube.com/@flyingcarpet1340/ Customer of X-Plane, Aerofly, Flightgear, MSFS.

It wouldn't have been a problem with the Cub and its Tundra tires. But that's exactly what you can use a simulator for - trying things, which you wouldn't do IRL. Probably I was too slow, as I didn't watch the airspeed indicator while looking outside the window. I wonder how the Cub would do as far as the "impossible turn" goes...was thinking about that the other day.

June 17, 20232 yr In the "mechanical pump failure video, you did you do a good of managing the aircraft but you kept it away from power line as to find a landing spot, show the important of having to POI and obstacles where you can see them. Very good!!!!

Is it safe to call it study level, although it's a default plane? 😛 What about other flight sims? It is said that DCS's failure system is quite sophisticated - although for obvious reasons it hasn't a Citation 😉, I would be interested how extensive it is and how the common civilian flight sims can be compared to it. Anyone? DCS has pretty good failures. You can definitely bend & rip wings due to over G, cause engine fires due to over temp/rev, oil temp & pressure matters, jet engine flameouts & realistic restarts, hydraulic failures, lose your helo from over torque, mast bump, rotor impact on the co-ax Kamov, etc. Random system failures are also a thing across many aircraft, hypoxia effects are there, "no GPS" historical scenarios, INS drift & correction. The DCS C101 & MB-339 trainers (excellent addons by any standard) have extensive systems & failures available, AND native multi-cockpit support so your IP can sit in back and induce various additional failures 😉 The Ka-50 helo suffers from smoke / dust ingestion (either from weapons or dirt kicked up). And of course, there are the MANY failures caused by weapons 🙂 It's also important to realize that, as a combat simulator, DCS developers Eagle Dynamics spend an extremely high number of labor hours on sensors & weapons systems modeling that simply don't exist in the civilian oriented sims. This, naturally, means there is a bit less time spent on programming support for normal failures and such. 😉 I don't purport that DCSW is the equal of XP in failure modeling, but it definitely supports it to a much greater degree than many might believe.
