January 16, 20233 yr They did it again. Why did they do it? And how can I prevent it? Can I save all settings? Thankfully, I have my own keyboard settings etc. But I have to disable the external HUD etc. etc. Paul Schmidt We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

Just curious: Do you have OS and sim on different drives? Store or Steam install? Using Spad.neXt, or Axus and Ohs? January 16, 20233 yr Author Nothing in particular. OS and Windows 11 on same device. Not steam, but Xbox Premium version. I also changed nothing in the configuration. This is now the second time it happened to me. Paul Schmidt We're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

January 16, 20233 yr There is a file in MSFS that saves all the settings, I can't remember what the name of it is, but I saved the file on my desktop about a year ago. I never have had to use it since....

From time to time I also experience this unfortunate situation. 747 Captain for the last 39 years, and still learning.

January 16, 20233 yr I've only ever found the file that saves the command bindings. Same setting stuff happened to me last week.

I don’t have MSFS but always wondered if there was a cfg in a hidden folder like FSX had that you could save as a back up prior to updates, etc. Back in those days I used to always keep a good copy of my cfg, control XML files as backups in case in ever needed to revert back from a install or update that caused issues. January 16, 20233 yr Mine is at C:\Users\<My Username>\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_<random letters/numbers>\LocalCache\UserCfg.opt I made this file read-only early on, and only make it editable if I want to change settings. I've never had MSFS2020 revert any of those settings unilaterally. Hope that helps. Mark Adeane - NZWN
January 16, 20233 yr Here is the file where the settings are stored. You should be able to find it on your PC. The caveat is I am not sure that this works, I copied the location from someone else over a year ago, and I have never used it, but I see it updates everytime I fly MSFS.
