Hi 

Hope this is the right place to post. I have bought a gaming PC for my son's 25th birthday (surprise!) and want to put Flight Simulator Premium Deluxe on it. 

I'm confused about whether i have to do the Xbox Live pass or if I can just buy it from Amazon/Game etc or from one of the cheaper sellers like CDKeys.

Advice much appreciated. I'd like to download it this weekend if possible.

You can buy MSFS via the Microsoft Store or through Steam on a PC. I would recommend doing it via Steam.

If it's supposed to be a surprise you could gift it your son's steam account if they have one on the day etc or just buy it on their account. 

(I haven't looked if you can buy it on cheaper places like CDKeys)

FYI, OP, CDKeys is a greymarket site. Sometimes you're getting a new, unused code, and occasionally something goes wrong and you end up getting a code someone else has already registered. If that happens, the game you bought won't work and Microsoft will not help you because CDKeys is not an authorized retailer. 

Personally, nice as the lower prices look, I treat greymarket sites the same way I treat pirate sites - I don't use them. It's a lot less stressful.

Get it from Steam. It’ll make it easier in the (near) future when it comes to updates.

You don't need Xbox live pass. Buy from Steam. There will be no subscription fees in the future. Flightsim.to has lots of freeware airports, scenery, planes. All free. To play, you log in to Steam and play.
