Monitor Choice- Odyssey or TV

Featured Replies

Wanting to replace my current 48" TV with something newer.  Was looking at Samsung Odyssey 49" or the LG 48" Class C1 OLED TV.  Any recommendations for either.  I will watch TV on this as well but mainly for MSFS.

Whatever you get make sure it has a Judder reduction setting. This setting activates frame interpolation at refresh rates lower than 60hz so if you have NCP set to 30hz for flight sim and the Judder reduction setting set to on or max (whatever the setting is) then your TV's built in processor will interpolate an extra frame between each frame it receives from your GPU. So if your setting can deliver at least 30fps the TV will display 60fps. The interpolated frames are exactly that. The TV processor take two adjacent frames and figures out what the frame in between those frames would look like and displaces it. It works great on my Samsung. Sounds like DLSS 3? That's because it is LOL!

Thanks for the above.  Seems the LG C2 tv has a refresh rate of 120, should I be looking for a tv with a higher refresh rate to run msfs at 4K?  Or is the 120 good for msfs?

I’m using c2 and 120 hz more than enough for msfs. But with all those lg oled tv’s, at dark scenes gsync is causing flickering. So I’m using vsync at night flights and I’m using gsync at day flights. Apart from this, I highly recommend c2 oled for flight sim, especially night flights is just gorgeous, deep blacks adds realism to your flights.

perfect, thanks for your input!

I have both and only use my OLED for simming. The wide-aspect is cool, but overall quality of the image on the TV brings more immersion to me.

Ive been running an LG 49" C1 for about a year now and I absolutely love it.

I use the Samsung TV NEO Qled QN90B 43". This is what suits me the most. Versatility for games and office automation, no risk of marking, incredible reflection filter and exceptional brightness.

I also am using a samsung TV, but older.  Just wondering if you can share your MSFS Settings and NCP settings.  Trying to find the best performance as I just installed my 4090

thanks
