Sim Loading

Featured Replies

For the last week or so the sim has been taking forever to load to the menu screen.  Outside of having a lot of things in the community folder, is there anything that can be done to make it faster?  It takes roughly 10+ mins now and I can't figure out why

Not really.  If you have a lot in your community folder, loading can take ages.  Running from an SSD or NVME drive can help.

For now, you may need to be a bit more selective with regard to the addons you are using and maybe use an addon manager.

Strange... Right now, I only have 1 thing in the folder and it is still taking forever...

Are you running from a mechanical hard drive?

If so, a disk defrag might help.

Edit. Just checked your specs and you clearly have something wrong   I have about 250 addons in my community folder with a similar level of hardware to you and msfs loads to the main menu in about 3 mins.  I wonder if you have things running in the background or perhaps even a virus.

Have you excluded msfs from your virus checker?

Just my opinion but I think it's a server problem because sometimes mine loads in a reasonable time (3 min) and sometimes it takes forever.  Same thing happens when I exit and go back to the main menu.

I usually just click it and then go make me a cup of coffee.

True story: After I uninstalled GSX my load times are much shorter. I really like GSX and the uninstall was accidental, but I realize I'm better off without it.

Thanks for the idea...I never use GSX anyway, and I don't have a license so it will only work at FSDT airports, so makes sense to me!
