Aerosoft’s Twin Otter is no longer available for MSFS

Recommended Posts

News just in from MSFS Addons (which is another good site worth a daily check actually)...

(Update! We heard back from Mathijs who restated that “it will all be clear in a few weeks. No bad news in any way though.”)

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Maybe he meant the news that he would leave Aerosoft? 🙂

On a related note: This looks like it could be a nice replacement for the Twin Otter:

But, has no:

Tundra

Floats

Amphibian

Ski

Reading the Aerosoft forum some months back, I got the impression that the Twin Otter was taken off-sale because it'll be one of the default aircraft in MSFS2024. This was before Mathijs departed for PMDG.

Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting.

I don't get all the twin Otter hate, yes the plane release was pretty shakey concerning the issues with sound and aerodynamics, but Aerosoft improved things over time.

It seems to have really left a bad taste in folks mouth though with Aerosoft overall...

Even after the few patches Aerosoft could be bothered to do it was still a dreadful version, seemingly created by a team who had no interest or understanding of the plane. (I genuinely had to explain to the person responsible for the controls why only having a single command that feathered both props at the same time was a very bad idea)

The straight up lies from support when flaws and bugs were mentioned was just the icing on the cake.

Did you purchase the Aerosoft Twin Otter for MSFS2020?

Stupidly, yes.

I bought it on release when I REALLY should have waited for reviews.

I also purchased the Aerosoft Twin Otter for MSFS2020 and really enjoy flying it.
I also have it installed in P3D4 and P3D5.
I previously had it installed on a 8 year old PC with FSX Deluxe.

I plan to add the Aerosoft Twin Otter to my recent purchase of FSX Steam Edition on my new 2nd PC.

I see it is still available for MSFS2020 at SimMarket (US $31.72):

Notes / screenshots:
Feathering was one of the first tests I did after purchase. No problems.
Amphibian Ops was next. All ok.
If it is later offered for P3D6 I will purchase it.

It appears that a further purchase will not be necessary.

If the MSFS version was even a fraction as good as their P3D extended version (which I also own) there wouldn't be a problem.
